I haven't played for a rather long time and the changes to combat is quite dramatic. I'm sure it's not much harder, just different, but the fact remains:
I loose more/about as much money than I earn in my Cobra MkIV. I'm currently running missions for the Empire to get that rep up, and quite frankly because I like missions. Whenever I'm starting to make some money again, I get interdicted and shot down despite having the best possible engine etc, waving around, using chaffs and engine boost to get out of there and back to supercruise. And here I was, enjoying the new missions, thinking they'd be worth doing again.
I'm guessing my old bounty hunting is coming back to haunt me, I'm considered "a good fighter" so I get proper fighters coming after me. I guess I could go get more money doing bounty hunting again, but then my rep would go up even higher even if my skills doesn't go up.
Now, I'm all for harder fighting, it was rubbish before, but when you're doing 8,000 credit missions and get interdicted by a kick-ass fighter it's not very balanced. A random interdiction while cargo hauling, yeah I get that, or while doing "higher level" missions.
I don't dare to take my FAS out right now. Loosing 2+ million at the moment would mean I'd rage quit and I really don't want that.
Yeah, I know you "need to strafe" etc now, but that doesn't really seem to help to turn the target on the bastards, and running apparently doesn't work anymore. Also, being forced to strafe seems like a rather bad decision, since it's hard to get all that in on a lot of controllers. Sure it's good if it helps, but there should be more options. Heck, soon they'll tell us we have to turn off assist to survive. And heck no, I don't want to stare at youtube video guides and read up just to survive interdictions. For serious fighting yeah, sure, but not for friggin' every day life.
Right now I'm thinking I'm just better of unloading my ship, heading out of the bubble to explore and hoping I can unload the data in a month before getting interdicted again. Well, thank Devs for att least providing us with profitable community goals. they're keeping my economy together. Really beginning to regret I didn't do Robigo like so many others.
Mental note: If there is an exploit, use it because you might regret it later if you don't.
yeah, I'm a bit grumpy today, realizing I'll quit playing this game before I try the Clipper.
