“It is undeniable - that local communities are the place where you can best take the fight against radicalization and violent extremism. That is the place where it has to begin...” -Secretary of State John Kerry, speaking at the #StrongCities Network International Visitors Leadership Program for Municipal Leaders and Countering Violence Extremism Experts Event: http://go.usa.gov/cvSbd #CVE

I agree with John Kerry's statement entirely! If where we live rejects rioting anti-civil extremism and violence then where do the rioting uncivil extremists have to go ? ? ? ? ?

Did you know that around 80% of marine pollution starts on land? Once in the ocean, pollution kills wildlife and destroys ecosystems. It also costs fisheries and tourism industries hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Plastic degrades into tiny pieces called microplastics that are eaten by birds and fish and end up in the food chain – which means you could end up consuming it yourself. You can help by recycling as much as possible, and by never littering.

Even if you live in a landlocked area, what you do matters because pollution in streams and rivers ends up in #OurOcean. www.ourocean2016.org

How is climate change affecting #OurOcean? The ocean has absorbed about a third of the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

More carbon dioxide raises the acidity of ocean water, which in turn weakens the shells of sea creatures and the skeletons of coral reefs. To preserve #OurOcean for future generations we must #ActOnClimate! www.ourocean2016.org

#OurOcean feeds billions of people, provides more than half the oxygen we breathe through phytoplankton, and employs millions of workers. Unfortunately, the ocean is under tremendous pressure from unsustainable fishing, pollution, and climate-related impacts. We all have the power to make a difference! As consumers, we can demand that the seafood we eat is legally caught. We can reduce our overall carbon footprints. We can make our voices heard by sharing info on social media with friends and family. Share this post if you want to protect #OurOcean! www.ourocean2016.org

Secretary of State John Kerry will host the 2016 #OurOcean conference in Washington, D.C. on September 15-16 to catalyze actions to protect our ocean from these threats and to empower a new generation to lead the way toward a healthy and sustainable ocean.

This year’s conference will focus on the key ocean issues of our time – marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts on the ocean. Find out more about the conference and watch it live at www.ourocean2016.org.

I wish Sir, you could give me materials for my Senior High School students. I am integrating topics on Earth Care in my classes. Since our school is too poor to provide us LCD Projector, I think providing my students with materials really enhance learning. Thanks in advance Sir. God bless.
