U.S. alumni, students and their family members celebrated #EarthDay with EducationUSA Philippines. Animal behavior expert and U.S. alumna Isa Garchitorena, who earned her degree in Exotic Animal Training and Management at Moorpark College in California, introduced the participants to Philippine owls, snakes, porcupines, rats, and tortoise. She also discussed everyday ways that we can make earth a sustainable habitat for wildlife, such as using less single-use plastic materials. It was an morning full of learning and fun at the Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City. #1Earth

On Saturday, April 22, EducationUSA hosted its annual U.S. Law School Fair at Seda Hotel in Bonifacio Global City featuring law schools from California, Idaho, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Law students, lawyers, and the general public interacted with U.S. representatives to learn about the Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Laws (LLM) application process. Attendees were also able to listen to Filipino U.S. law alumni stories. EducationUSA Philippines is the U.S. government’s official source on U.S. higher education.

The U.S. Embassy’s American Citizens Services (ACS) unit recently conducted outreach events in Angeles City and Olongapo City on April 20 and 21, 2017.

The Consular Section’s ACS unit regularly conducts outreach programs around the Philippines in an effort to better assist our citizens. Representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Social Security Administration, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs accompanied the ACS team in providing consular services to U.S. citizens living and visiting the central Luzon region.

All U.S. citizens in the Philippines are encouraged to enroll with the Embassy at https://step.state.gov/step/ to receive important information for U.S. citizens, as well as notices on future outreach programs around the Philippines. http://ow.ly/i/ubudx

Today is #WorldIPDay! Did you know that more than 45 million jobs in the United States are in industries directly helped by intellectual property protection? Without IP protection, singers, writers, artists, inventors and others would never be paid for their brilliant ideas. #InnovationImprovingLives.

Pictured in the photo are, from left, Embassy Economic officer Brian Breuhaus; Josephine Santiago, head of the Philippines Intellectual Property Office; Marivic Benedicto, chairman of the Philippines Association of the Record Industry (PARI); and iflix Philippines Country Manager Sherwin Dela Cruz.

Before the official start of Exercise #Balikatan on May 8, 2017, take a look at some of the highlights from past Balikatan exercises.

As part of Balikatan in 2013, Philippine Navy and U.S. Marine service members sift sand to rebuild Rabanes Elementary School. Philippine and U.S. military service members worked together on construction projects to help communities in need. #FriendsPartnersAllies
