4.2 billion people have been affected by weather-related disasters over the past 20 years, including a significant loss of lives. Developing countries are the most affected by climate change impacts.

While climate adaptation and resilience are often overlooked in climate discussions, they are vital for addressing climate change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

What does it take to make migration safe, orderly and regular? World leaders will discuss this topic and exchange visions for a long-term global approach to addressing large movements of persons across international borders, at the UN Summit for Refugees and Migrants on 19 September.

”Let’s welcome people into their new communities as neighbours and friends,” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said. ”Let’s build bridges, not walls. We will all be stronger for it.”

To learn more about what is at stake, and how the world will come together to address these issues, watch here: http://bit.ly/2bHPNlW

Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development requires innovation and creativity in public service delivery. Tomorrow, on 23 June, we celebrate the United Nations Public Service Day!

This year’s celebration reminds us of the key role that effective, accountable and inclusive public institutions play in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You can watch the UN Public Service Day High-Level Panel on Leaving No One Behind through Innovative Public Service Delivery live on Thursday 23 June from 10:30 AM EDT here: http://webtv.un.org

To promote prosperity and well-being, we need to invest in people and planet. The Addis Ababa Action Agenda, which was adopted in the Ethiopian capital last summer at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, provides a new global framework for financing people-centred sustainable development.

The ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development on 18-20 April is the first event to follow up on the promises made in the Addis Agenda.

Whether it is income, wealth, gender, health, education or innovation; there are many faces to inequality around the globe. Did you for example know that the average income of the richest 10% of the population is about nine times that of the poorest 10% across the OECD?

Less inequality benefits us all. This is why the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development places such importance on its reduction in its standalone sustainable development goal 10. This is also why the ECOSOC President has decided to convene a special meeting on this topic today. #SDGs #GlobalGoals

This is what the meeting hopes to achieve: http://bit.ly/1UHnV3X
