50 years on and the ol' girls are back to do it all over again, well, of sorts! K1 62005 is seen at Battersby, shortly before departing to Grosmont, some 79 mins early, to take party in the NYMR's commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the Beeching Axe which closed the Whitby & Pickering Railway, amongst many others.

The K1 has come a very long way since those days. Being bought initially as a boiler for K4 61994, out of shot in the image. She has since seen numerous heritage railway visits and many seasons up in Fort William, the first being in 1987. Making it the most used locomotive on the West Highland line in preservation.
