How Twitter could have avoided this week’s DM scandal: Twitter is under fire this week after media organization Project Veritas published undercover footage of engineers from the company saying that employees – “at least, three or four hundred people” read users’ posts and supposedly private Direct Messages. The company denied the claim, telling BuzzFeed News, “We do not proactively review DMs. Period. A limited number of employees have access to such information, for legitimate work purposes, and we enforce strict access protocols for those employees.” Twitter hasn’t been great with disclosing its policies around how it manages content and users on its platform, but it seems like the company… This story continues at The Next Web Or just read more coverage about: Twitter http://dlvr.it/QBQ9XW #Twitter #internet #technology #business #tradeflo

According to Oxford’s new darknet drug map it’s more like your local pusher’s Etsy page than Amazon’s marketplace. The researchers used darknet web crawlers to scrape the marketplaces of several top underground markets including Alphabay, Hansa, Traderoute, and Valhalla. Data gleaned from the search was then organized geographically to provide insights into what effect darknet markets have on the global illicit drug-trade. According to their white paper, the team tracked and classified data pertaining to nearly 1.5 million trades occurring on… This story continues at The Next Web http://dlvr.it/QBMwK0 #Tech #internet #technology #business #tradeflo

It uses guide lights to tell you which notes to play when learning a new piece. The device is basically a long strip of LED lights designed to fit any standard 88-key piano, slotting in between the black keys while leaving you enough room to play unimpeded. It uses lasers to detect when the… This story continues at The Next Web http://dlvr.it/QBMPD4 #Gadgets #internet #technology #business #tradeflo

Everything you need to know about cyborgs: If we feel the technology we rely on is changing us, can we trust that change? After all, the revolution of today is the mundane of tomorrow. Our successors will find the moral panics around smartphones as quaint as we now think of 20th-century moral panics over television. We invent, we adapt, we manipulate and adjust—and we try and understand… This story continues at The Next Web http://dlvr.it/QBKJgq #Syndication #Tech #internet #technology #business #tradeflo
