Google records everything you say either to Google Now, via the voice to text prompts, etc. Pretty much anything you've ever said via your phone or though your computer microphone.

The good news is, you can delete all of it. That puts you one step above, for example, Siri where you have no control at all.
Here’s a fun fact: Every time you do a voice search, Google records it. And if you’re an Android user, every time you say “Ok Google,” the company records that, too. Don’t freak out, though, because Google lets you hear (and delete) these recordings. Here’s how.

So annoying, I'd way rather get stopped by police playing Ingress than Pokemon....

My first two Defcon's were here. Farewell.

DEF CON's beginnings were a little touch-and go at times; a party for computer hackers was a pretty tough sell in the early nineties. This might be one reason the first six DEF CONs were held in six different hotels. It wasn't until DC7 at the Alexis Park that we got in the groove of getting invited back.

Another reason we bounced around so much is that the hotels kept getting blown up after we finished with them. These demolitions, of course, were not our fault. Correlation, perhaps, but not causation. Still, the trail of rubble is impressive:

DEF CON 1 - The Sands - demolished.
DEF CON 2 - The Sahara - demolished.
DEF CON 3 - The Tropicana - not demolished, but now a DoubleTree. Potato, potahto.
DEF CON 4 - The Monte Carlo - survived.
DEF CON 5 - The Aladdin - ka-boom.
DEF CON 6 - The Plaza - hanging in there.

Tonight, another of our past hosts is getting dynamited. This time it's the Riviera, host of five DEF CONs, from 14 to 18. They were good years. As much as we loved the Alexis Park, the extra space and reliable air conditioning were welcome upgrades.

She was scruffy but charming, and we will miss her weird bars, bounteous breakfasts and bus loads of grumpy retirees hogging the slot machines.

Tonight she begins her slow fade into oblivion. Pour out a little liquor for a good friend who was a kind to us in our awkward teen years.

Farewell, sweet Riv.

Food baked under a heat lamp for quite some time. The corn tortillas dry and hard from the lamp. had to ask for new ones. Food was ok, but not for the price. Doubt I will go back.
