It’s moment’s like this that make a Tŷ Hafan nurse the best job in the world. It gives you time to spend with the child and their family, forming bonds, developing trust and really getting to know them. I love my job – Gemma Lewis #ForOurNurses

There is so much pressure on the family of a child with a life-limiting condition and actually being a family will sadly take a back seat to their responsibilities. It is so important that our nurses can be there to give the families the opportunity to just enjoy the time they have together. They are there to give families the confidence to be themselves and allow them to remember the magical moments #ForOurNurses

As much as our role is to be responsible for the medical wellbeing of the children in our care, whether that is at the hospice, at home or in the community, a Tŷ Hafan nurse is so much more than that and we need your help to be there for the families who need us from all over Wales.

Thank you for showing your support #ForOurNurses. Please visit www.tyhafan.org/nurses to donate today

Hi, it's Hayley again. Being a Tŷ Hafan nurse is truly magical. Tŷ Hafan offers families the opportunity to make every single moment they spend with their child count and our nurses are at the centre of that.

Nursing is part of who I am and my time a Tŷ Hafan has been an incredible experience. Ask our nurses and they agree with me that it's the best job you can ask for. You can read Adrian's story at www.tyhafan.org/nurses #ForOurNurses

Hi, I’m Hayley and I’ve been part of the Tŷ Hafan nursing team for ten years. It's #TŷHafanNursesWeek2018 and we are celebrating the people who bring the medicine and the magic!

Without our nurses, we simply couldn’t open our doors to the hundreds of families in Wales who need us.

Please support our wonderful nurses this year #ForOurNurses www.tyhafan.org/nurses

On 19 December 2011 Terri and her family received the greatest Christmas gift of all, their miracle baby Rhys.

But their dreams of the perfect Christmas at home with Rhys and her two beautiful daughters was never realised. That year they spent Christmas in hospital.

Rhys was born with a heart condition where the left side of his heart is completely underdeveloped. He spent the first nine months of his life in hospital undergoing countless operations. Terri said “My poor Rhys, he was so small, so fragile - it was terrifying to see him go through so much.

Those nine months spent on the ward inevitably took its toll on my two girls Faith and Teigen too. It was heart-breaking to see the impact of this traumatic experience on my daughters.”

When they were discharged from the hospital a nurse put Terri in contact with Tŷ Hafan, and she has never looked back.

Terri said “On our first visit to Tŷ Hafan, I was so nervous, I didn’t know what to expect. But as soon as we got there, I felt at ease as I realised that finally someone was there for us all.

Please support Tŷ Hafan this Christmas, so they can continue to provide the care and support to families like mine.”
