Our preschoolers have been exploring different types of building structures such as bridges and towers. The children enjoyed learning all about the design process used by engineers and had a wonderful time working with a variety of materials to construct their own configurations. With an increasing emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) for children entering public school, our teachers have been working hard to incorporate these skills into developmentally appropriate child-directed activities.

STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM Education, refers to an educational approach which integrates more than one of these disciplines. These subjects may seem like difficult concepts to incorporate into daily activities however, at The Valley School, our children regularly engage in STEM activities. Check out some of the greenhouse structures the children constructed while exploring the subject of gardening.
