FINALLY! :) It's taken 22 years' worth of efforts but the ancient site of Ephesus has finally been added to UNESCO's World Heritage list. Big congratulations to Ephesus.  Also, congratulations to Diyarbakır who have had the Hevsel Gardens and the Diyarbakır Fortress added to the list. :)

Some pretty major #archaeological  finds in #Ermenek  at the moment. :)
With a rich history dating back to 5,000 years ago, Karaman’s Ermenek district is revealing ancient artifacts during continuing excavations

One of the reasons for us 'moving home' with our blog was so we could expand it more and do more with our existing posts. Last night, we started on our recipes posts where, hopefully, they are now more clear and the photography a tad better, too. :) Here's our updated, new-look, kısır recipe. Afiyet olsun. :)

We're working hard in our new home for the blog and have now started to make recipes clearer and easy to read - and what we think are better photos, too. This is one recipe we worked on yesterday. Afiyet olsun. :)

Recently, we were in #Italy  for a little jaunt to stay with friends. One of the places we visited was #Sperlonga  in the #Lazio  region. So pretty. This is the beach part. :)

We are not usually beachy people, but the beach at Sperlonga completely wooed us. We both fell fast asleep on the beautiful Sperlonga beach in Lazio, Italy.

This is Yuvarlakçay, near #Köyceğiz  in Southwest Turkey. It's a beautiful area to visit. Here's our blog post about it. :)

We had the pleasure of watching Turkish jazz singer, Elif Çağlar, perform in #Ölüdeniz  with Bilal Karaman at the weekend. Here's our blog post about it. :)
Jaaaazzz; never been my thing, especially when everyone with a musical instrument in their hands starts to go off on one in their own little musical trance-like-state and the result is just a cacophony of noise. I just don’t get it, and all that ever springs to mind is John Thomson in his hilarious Jazz Club …

A new addition to the #Fethiye  hostel and eating & drinking scene - fab views. :)
El Camino Hostel & Pub is a great place - young, chilled & friendly atmosphere, decent food and simply fabulous views over Fethiye bay...

UK newspaper, +The Independent, doing their bit for #tourism  in #Turkey  today. :)
There are few simpler pleasures than strolling through a Turkish town at night, after a long, hot day spent gazing out at the turquoise seas. As the muezzin’s call to prayer wafts through the warm air, your only concern will be where to go for dinner. A rooftop restaurant perhaps, looking out across the glinting lights of the surrounding bay. Or maybe something more intimate, in an atmospheric courtyard garden, garlanded with low-hanging lanterns...

Litter can be a problem on unmanned beaches +Ken Noto but there is a lot going on, certainly where we live, to try and raise awareness of the problem and to protect the environment. Community projects as well as school projects, too.

A travel site about Fethiye and other parts of Turkey - with lots of Turkish food, recipes, photos & music
Introduction
Turkey's For Life is a blog about Fethiye, Turkey and our lives as English people in this beautiful country.

We write about things to do and see in Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Çalış, Kayaköy, Dalyan and other nearby places. We also cover less-nearby places like Istanbul, Bodrum, Kaş and Kalkan.

There are also lots of recipes for Turkish food on our blog and we've even started a Google Plus Community for Turkish Food. We'd love you to join in with your own recipes and Turkish food photos.

Turkey's For Life also features details of trekking routes in and around Fethiye.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay on holiday here, then try out our best-price hotel checker for Fethiye or other places in Turkey. You can also find cheap flights to Fethiye and Turkey through Turkey's For Life.

One of our favourite places for a drink in Fethiye. Great views, free popcorn, good atmosphere and chill out music. Lovely owner and attentive staff - what else could you want? Get in the lift and go up and see them :)

Consistently one of the best restaurants in Fethiye. Try some authentic Eastern Turkish food from the Hatay region. Very popular so book in advance to be certain of a table.

A must see in Fethiye. It's a restaurant and bar as well as a hotel and has a swimming pool in a wonderful setting. Beautiful views all over Fethiye - and our favourite place to catch a Fethiye sunset.

Great place for a drink if you are in the Fethiye area. It's at the quiet end of Çalış Beach and the owners Güven and Carol are lovely people.

Our favourite bar in Fethiye. Great place to chill and people watch in Paspatur, the old town of Fethiye. Always a warm welcome - and a cold drink :)
