Love146

Human trafficking was at one time just some vile practice that I learned from history books or the occasional TV documentary or movie. Of course, I grew up and I'm sure along with many of you, learned that somehow this horrid crime against fellow human beings, particularly those most innocent and vulnerable, still occur to this very day in many shapes and forms.

Please join me in participating in a silent auction that my former co-worker is organizing this Saturday to benefit Love146, as we do our small part in raising awareness and funds to help fight human trafficking globally and, yes, locally. I will be donating a framed landscape photograph to join arts and crafts donated by many other generous and talented local artists.

The event details:

When: September 12th, 2-5 pm.
Where: The JourneyActivity Center, 6150 Bellflower Blvd. Lakewood, CA 90713

Coordinator Contact Info:
Niki (Nichole) Brice
nicholebrice@gmail.com

If you're unable to attend you can also make donations directly to the organization at https://donate.love146.org/ransom

You can check out ratings for the charity at the following link:

Thank you for your generous support!

P.S. sorry for not posting in such a long time but I haven't been able to do much shooting at all the past few years.

"Music of the Morning", Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada.

This formation is known as Piano Arch Rock, and I can easily see why. It's one of the many interesting sights I saw when I camped out here with  the family a few weeks ago.  Although this was my 4th visit to the park, I sure wished I had more time to explore.

Lights, action, camera...

From a few weeks back in Newport Beach, California.  Turned out to be a good decision to get up early and head out for the sunrise on this day.

Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Huntington Beach, California.

After a week or so of observing the nice sunsets we've been having from inland, I finally got to the coast to one of my favorite areas.  Looks like there are still some nice sunsets left. :)

Have a good Labor Day for those celebrating!

"Dreamland", Death Valley National Park, California.  On an early morning at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes.

I haven't had a chance to shoot much landscapes lately so haven't been too good with sharing online.  I did manage to head out to one of my favorite parks a few months back and came back with a few I liked.  Hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed the experience of being back in DVNP, exploring, and enjoying the quiet and beauty the desert offers.

"Alien", Joshua Tree National Park.

Forgot to share this fun image here.  It was taken this past summer during a campout with my friend +J-D Bamford.  Time to head back to JTNP real soon.  Took my little daughter out there a few months back to camp.  Unfortunately, I had to turn right around once we got there because I made the fatal mistake of forgetting to take her favorite stuffed animal with us.  Lesson learned.

Thanks +Daniel Chen.  In my defense, I don't remember ever seeing stuffed animals as part of the essential items for hiking or camping. :)

"Morning Clouds and Waves", Newport Beach, California.

From early morning a few weeks ago, looking down towards Crystal Cove. I didn't think there would be much of a sunrise but the sun poked through and lit up the clouds nicely. The higher tides also provided some nice wave action around the rocks.

The tide got a little high on the way out but with a little four-limbed action I managed to stay dry! Glad I decided to get up early and get out on this day.

"Morning Below Koip Peak Pass", Ansel Adams Wilderness, California.

A lovely sunrise greeted us before we started the climb up the pass.  The 395 highway lies thousands of feet below in the distance.

"Little Corona Rock Patterns", Newport Beach, California.

Some interesting rock details at our local beach, taken from last year.

There's been some beautifully skies locally for the last week, but unfortunately, I've missed the photo ops for all of them.  Hopefully there'll still be some nice conditions in the next few days and I'll be able to take advantage of them.

Landscape and nature photographer based in southern California.
Introduction
I enjoy hiking, backpacking and, in general, spending any time I can outside, preferably where the air's a little fresher.

Landscape and nature photography is one of my passions that has grown over time spent outdoors in the local coastal, desert and mountain regions of Southern California.  I continue to dedicate much of my spare time to explore and connect as best as I can with the natural world and at the same time try to capture the visual and emotional image of that experience through photography.

I'm currently a curator for the +DesertSandDay theme on Sunday, a subject that's dear to me.  The southern California desert is where I've spent much of my time camping and hiking and where I've recently started to dedicate more of my photography time.
