The One and Only ANGEL Award Goes to… a Velvet Hippo Who Is Making the World a Better Place — For Pit Bulls and For Everyone

NEW #ontheblog !
Stand Up For Pits! The KOTAW Girl Gang Does

The #KOTAWGirlGang is inspired by +rebecca corry's sweet rescue Pit Bull Angel, which is why we nominated her for an award through +TrophyCentral's Random Acts of Trophy-ness campaign to celebrate everyday heroes who inspire.

And we're so thrilled to announce that Angel won!

KOTAW Girl Gang member +Brijana Prooker wrote the following words which are etched onto ANGEL’s trophy:

"Thank you for making the world a better, more loving and more happy place. Thank you for giving millions of people daily joy and laughter and for inspiring us all to respect the now and live in the moment. Thank you for giving your mom the love and strength to Stand Up For Pits and save countless silly, sweet, inherently good velvet hippo lives. Thank you for being you, a real-life and forever Angel.”

KOTAW Girl Gang member +Kelsey Prooker used hand drawing and Illustator to create a vector of ANGEL to be etched onto her award.

ANGEL and Rebecca inspire us every day as we go about our life’s work to spread the #pittielove  with our #PitBullsAndPersonalBranding  passion project.

And Angel inspired her mom, Rebecca, to create the #StandUpForPits  Foundation to help end discrimination of Pit Bull-type dogs and help save #pittie -‪pie lives.

Our KOTAW Content Marketing Pit Bull Brand Ambassador Ivy and our 2 other rescues (our Poodle Doodle LuLU and magical kitten-cat fairy Doosis!) stand up for pits too! 🐶🐩🐱

The KOTAW Girl Gang promises to always stand up for pits.*

And we thank Angel and Rebecca with all our hearts for amplifying our own voices that we’ve used on a daily basis to dispel ugly myths and spread the Pit Bull love ever since Ivy waddled into our lives and stole our hearts many moons ago.

Make a DIY Random Kindness Ribbon #Award !

"So often in life and school people are being awarded for competitiveness and physical ability. While those things can be great, I also want our children to see that being clever, brave, and kind are equally (if not, more) important qualities to have in life." --+Handmade Charlotte

Love this! What could be better than celebrating people not for their accomplishments, but just for being their awesome selves that they are?!

Teen with cerebral palsy writes letter to +Nike urging the company to develop an athletic shoe specifically for people with disabilities.

The result? Nike launches Flyease, a shoe specifically designed and dedicated to help those with disabilities and difficulties of buying and wearing shoes.

Nike's senior director of athlete innovation, Tobie Hatfield, says that he "used Matthew as a muse" for Flyease and that the teen "couldn’t believe that a big company would do something for him."

This story proves that one person truly can make a difference. Thanks to Matthew's bravery and perseverance in getting his voice heard, a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind shoe technology was born -- one that has the potential to improve the lives of people with disabilities in a new and exciting way.

It is people like Matthew who motivated us to create our Random Acts of Trophy-ness: #ShowUsYourSue  Campaign, our initiative inspired by +The Middle's  #SueHeck  which celebrates everyday heroes who inspire. Learn more HERE: http://bit.ly/1x9dkpI

Mom Creates Comic To Teach 7-Year-Old Daughter To Accept Her Natural Beauty

Angie Nixon created "The Adventures of Moxie Girl" in order to teach her daughter valuable lessons on self-image and self-love.

The comic -- which Angie's daughter, Natalie, helps contribute story ideas to -- features a 7 yr old superhero who transforms her so-called "flaw" (her curly hair) into superpowers in order to save her community (Moxie Girl possesses crime-fighting afro puffs!)

All of us at Trophy Central love this story!

Angie Nixon and her daughter Natalie are the epitome of the Sue Heck spirit we celebrate as part of our Random Acts of Trophy-ness: Show Us Your Sue Campaign.

Sue Heck, the fictional character on the ABC sitcom +The Middle,  *turns her so-called weaknesses into strengths*, and it is this winning spirit that makes us at Trophy Central delighted to be in the business of delivering smiles.

We believe that like Moxie Girl, Sue Heck is a superhero — and you should too!

Be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams!

Sue Heck (our muse for our Random Acts of Trophy-ness: Show Us Your Sue campaign, celebrating everyday heroes who inspire) embodies the kind of fearlessness described by the brilliant Mary Shelley!

Beware, for I am fearless and therefore powerful.

I think this quote from Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, is pretty darn #KOTAWesome !

I believe that facing your fears is one of the most powerful things a person can do.

So here's to fearlessness and strength!

Art Students Causing a Creative Riot (And we love it!)

Two anonymous art students at the Columbus College of Art and Design sneak into a classroom each week and create a masterpiece out of nothing but chalk.

We love that the pair (who call themselves Dangerdust!) are spreading creativity and joy -- and doing so anonymously, without expectation of recognition, admiration or award.

Well, we at Trophy Central are going to celebrate Dangerdust anyway!

We're giving them today's #RandomActsOfTrophyness  award in honor of our #ShowUsYourSue  campaign to celebrate everyday heroes who inspire.
