This man was a Vet who fought for his county and paid his bills on time and Public Storage, Ron Smith HDSS, North Bent Apt and Carnes Funeral Home have done nothing but steal from him, and continue to try to extort more from his family! This needs to be stopped and I wonder how many others they've done this to???

Consumer's Original Complaint :
On April 9, 2015 My father passed away interstate in Houston Texas. Due to a failure in the system next of kin was not notified until the bank called us on May 13, 2015. My father was religious when it came to paying his bills and I have a money order receipt dated March 28, 2015 for 67.00, his monthly charge at Public Storage. After many calls with no return my husband personally went to the (PS) and was informed that as of April 23, 2015 my fathers storage had been auctioned off! It was a 5x10 packed full of family heirlooms and expensive items, they claimed that they had the right to do this due to a breach of contract by my father, they gave us a partial copy of a letter they claim to have sent to him dated March 20, 2015 stating he owed 5.00 in back rent and a 20.00 late fee. It has an address my father had no lived at since 2004!

Consumer's Desired Resolution:
DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)I would like my fathers items returned since I believe they have them since they never had an auction on the date they alleged in the notice they finally showed us. If not I want the value, app. 7500.00! And I want a public apology to my family and PS promise to investigate this matter as so no other families are put through such hardship from grave diggers.

BBB# 422046
We are responding to BBB Case # 422046 from Trina Gilmer.
We have researched our records and found our tenant to be David Gilmer whom entered into a Lease/Rental Agreement with Public Storage.
After further research we do not show Trina L. Gilmer to be listed by the occupant as an Authorized Access Person. Please offer Trina L. Gilmer our most sincere condolences.
The contract is between the Owner and Occupant:
The person(s) listed as Authorized Access Persons are solely agents of the Occupants and are not parties of the Lease/Rental Agreement, has no rights of tenancy or standing to bring any claims, or to file suit from occurrences arising from the use of the storage space.
Resolution: Not the tenant of record.

The tenant is DEAD!! What cold hearted grave diggers. I seriously thought it was only the faculty in Houston that were the thieves. I expected Public Storage to correct this problem once they were aware of it and saw my receipts as evidence of the fraud. I guess I'll be seeing them in court.
