WHAT A FUN WAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR A CHARITY.
If you're in D.C. Dec 14-17 and need a ride, request Lyft's rolling photo booth that includes a car decked out in an ugly Christmas sweater. The ride includes karaoke holiday songs to get you in a 'merry mode' and Lyft will donate the proceeds from your D.C. ride to a local charity, Martha's Table. BTW, the ugly sweaters took about 80 hours to knit. Check out WTOP for more information (video included).

Merry Mode will be live in D.C. at the following times:

3 p.m. — midnight Thursday, Dec. 14
3 p.m. — midnight Friday, Dec. 15
Noon — midnight Saturday, Dec. 16
Noon — 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17

OUR FIRST SNOW IS DUE TO START JUST BEFORE NOON TODAY.

Forecasters predict 1-2 inches but the temperatures aren't going to get that low so we might see a quick melt.

Have you changed your air filters and tested your thermostat to confirm it reaches the desired temperature? If it fails to perform, you might have a problem with your system. Contact Tri-County Aire to request service.

In case we have a snow build-up, be sure to check your Heat Pump or Mini-Split System to make sure snow hasn't accumulated around the unit. If it has, follow our tips for safe removal of snow.

HOW TO USE YOUR CEILING FAN TO STAY WARM
During winter months, you’ll want to set your fan so the blades spin clockwise, or in reverse. The clockwise rotation will blow air upwards toward the ceiling, redistributing the warm air that collects there so it’s pushed downward and felt by those in the room. Your thermostat will also sense this warmer air and won’t kick on the furnace quite so soon, which will reduce your energy bills. To change the direction of the fan blade rotation, look for a small switch on the fan housing.
