Footprints in the Sand

So…last night on the beach here in the Caribbean…

My RRS Tripod: "You promised you would walk beside me forever, and I would always see our footprints together in the sand."

Me: "During your times of trial and suffering, when you only see one set of footprints, that is when I carried you, my son. That is when I carried you."

(Yes, I use a Really Right Stuff tripod, and no RRS did not pay me for this blasphemous ad they would never support… but I do love me some RRS. I have the model number, head, etc below the lens area on my "Stuff You Need" page at )

HA! @ Footprints reference.
Really killer shot.
Ahhh.. beautiful. Brings back memories of a great vacation spot!
Just remember, the Sand People always ride single-file to hide their numbers.
The D800 is really showing its stuff..... Nice!
So did you just find the footprints on the beach, or carefully walk backwards in your own footprints for 100 yards or so? Either way, it's a great shot.
is it real?? so beautiful
the beaches are beautiful pict
Wow, you're bible thumping on the beach?!! WOW! (Sorry, couldn't resist that one...I won't even venture toward what all mighty super powers it takes to make this tripod think you are an Immortal :)

Nice photo Trey...have to admit that little quip made me smile! So blaspheme away! :) Memories of vacation bible school come crashing over me in waves and the plaques on various relative's walls...hmmm, hope you're enjoying that solace and time spent with the waves serenading you along beach...just you and your tripod together...awww! :)

You would like Anegata and the stunning spanse of white beach...and Sandy Spit, of course...guess you may have to revisit, eh? Next time you can pretend you're a pirate! Sail away on the RMS Tripod...oops that's RRS, isn't it?....but oh what a voyage that would be!!! hehe! ;)
Best day if my life in recent years - walking down the beach in Negril with a cold drink in my hand and warm ocean washing over my feet. Nice reminder.
that's beautiful. I still remember that time you carried me down that beach too while I held your RRS tripod in my lap.
someday I feel saw that sightseeing.
Your gear page says that the TVC-33 supports 11 pounds. Doesn't it support 50 pounds - the same as the BH-55 ball head?
nice. would like to put this in my wallpaper. great shot!
I always liked that quote, but thought the picture could be better... Now it is!
I like your version of that sappy "footprints" thing better than any other!
nice picture.... that place like a paradise in these world
I have my RRS BH-55 ballhead which I consider one of the finest pieces of equipment. I adore this thing. :)
+Rich Carstensen +Trey Ratcliff is strong. He carried me for at least half a mile. It was late and I'd twisted my ankle coming out of the bar at 2am. I slept like a baby most of the way home.

So Trey, I'm curious, when you go out to take some pictures like on the beach, how many pictures do you take?
I know that it varies, but let's just say an average.
This picture is relaxing for some reason.
Lovely capture , looks like a peaceful location.......
So......I should check out the stuff you need section maybe there's a ebook about how to diagnose the tripod ?
pretty, and trudge marks on sand make it better..!
Why am I seeing this religious shit on my feed?
should drag a line in the sand beside them and be like "yeah, that's when the monopod came out"
have to have a home at this spot

so relieving.
+Trey Ratcliff to RRS: "But you DON'T WALK you idiot thing! I have to CARRY you everywhere! At almost a GRAND one would think you'd haul ass..but NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I guess this dialog never happened :D
oh dont worry it did... he didnt want to come off as mean though.
This is a very very lovely place...
No God just Sand people they walk in single file to hide their numbers.
love beaches................
"Footprints in the sand" - Ms. Margareth Fishback Powers

“Lord, you told me when I decided to follow You,
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome
times of my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don't understand why, when I needed You most,
You leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child,
I love you and will never leave you
never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints
it was then that I carried you."

beautiful........ my mom would so love that picture she has this thing for foot prints. have u ever heard of that poem where there is a guy walking on the beach with God and for every step there is a different scene from his life and at the end he turns back to look at the trail and he turns to God and he says u said that u would walk with me all the way but when i needed u most u left and the God said something like i never left u my child where u see only one set ont footprints is when i carried u. have u ever heard of that poem?
the unknown author of the poem, "Footprints" is supposedly from my hometown. A rural town in SW Iowa with a population of around 6000. The man that wrote it was an electronics guru who made his own security systems.

A wonderful landscape! It reminds me of my favorite Dominican Republic!
I remember, between 1998 - 2003, my sister's room has a poster with the same 'Foot Print' message.
It is so easy to forget the absolute truth of that poem. Love it and the picture.
Go snorkeling off of Eustacia Reef while you are there. You see large fish coming up from the deep Atlantic to feed.
