What a great article that speaks to the amazing collaboration that is going on in the Dallas Startup scene.  The ecosystem in DFW is continuing to grow and is including all sorts of stake holders from entrepreneurs, investors, accelerators/incubators, corporations, universities, media outlets, municipalities and more.  Just remember: "Don't Mess with Texas Startups"

Don't miss your chance to be a part of a great volunteer program that helps introduce you to the Dallas (North Texas) startup community. We focus on first introducing our Ambassadors to the community, connecting them to the great organizations that make up our community and then providing opportunities for service and leadership. The DFW Startup Scene continues to grow exponentially and now is a better time than ever to get involved.
Please apply to be involved. There is no age minimum or limit and we have seen some amazing things come out of this motivated, enthusiastic, service minded group of people.

Check out the end of the year email from the Mayor's Star Council. They have accomplished a great deal in the last year and have even bigger plans for 2015. If you are not signed up for this newsletter, please do so as it is a great organization of emerging leaders making a positive impact in the city of Dallas. Happy New Year from the Mayor's Star Council (@msc_Dallas)

how cool is this. one local photog in Dallas is supporting the Startup community through offering a 1 day, $25 head shot event.  I love our startup community and how so many people are working to support and serve each other.

Great  to see these SMU students get the credit and attention they deserve. They worked very hard this semester and have launched some great businesses. You should come by the DEC this summer and check them out.

I am so excited to announce our involvement in the Startup Federation that was founded by our friends from 1776 in DC. This organization is a group of entrepreneur centers across the country dedicated to partnering and finding ways to bring together different startup ecosystems and making traveling entrepreneurs feel like they are home where ever the may go.

We are honored to join other great entrepreneur centers like 1776, 1871, Capital Factory, Entrepreneur Center in Nashville, etc.

Check out this article in the Dallas Morning News about this new partnership.

Today the Dallas Entrepreneur Center will become one of six new members of the Startup Federation, a global network of some of the world’s top incubators. The Startup Federation was launched in 2013 by 1776, a Washington D.C.-based hub for startups. Through the program, 1776 and its ...

Great article this morning in the Dallas Morning News business section around the DEC Ambassador Program. It is amazing to see residents of North Texas joining a volunteer program that supports and serves within the entrepreneurial community.
Great work by the #teamDEC ambassadors and great highlights of Aaron Terwey, Emiola Banwo, Tara Vornkahl, Tom Buttine and Aassia Haq.

One of my favorite parts of every month is the moment we send out The DEC Monthly Newsletter. Not only does it show all of the great things that are going on at The DEC or with our member companies but even more than that it showcases the great activity going on in the entire Dallas and North Texas community.  I have never been as excited as I am now about a new year for startups in Dallas.

It is so cool to look back and see all that the Mayor's Star Council has accomplished since Mayor Mike Rawlings launched it 3 years ago. Every member of this group has spent so much time, effort, and commitment to embrace and engage the City of Dallas today rather than inherit the city in 20 years. I truly believe these individuals are some of the future leader's of our city and they are already stepping up to serve and lead us to being a global leader as a city.
We still have more to do and much progress to be made, but it is humbling to serve along side of these leaders who have a vision for what Dallas can be one day!

Check out the amazing kids that are a part of the Mayor's Rising Star Council in Dallas. These kids are inspiring, challenging and best of all, they are changing their communities.
The first time I walked into an Urban School was the Spring of 2011.  I had just moved to Dallas from Flushing, MI (just outside of Flint and yes I have heard every joke about the name) and started work with the Dallas Regional Chamber in their education space.  When I thought of education, I thought of my own experience.  Four elementary schools feeding into one Junior High which fed into one High School.  I was able to go on field t...

I am excited to announce that  that after almost a year of operations, the Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC) has decided to move our entrepreneur center downtown and into the West End Historic District.

There has been so much great activity downtown for startups and we are excited to be one of the many groups working to help aspiring entrepreneurs start, build, and grow startups.

It is a result of the great collaborative efforts that #Dallas has become the # 1 city in the country to start a business.

The move comes as pockets of startup activity are spreading across the city, particularly downtown, and around the region.
