I've said it before. Use Signal. Use Signal. Use Signal! The metadata they collect? The phone number you used to sign up (that's your identifier) and the last day you signed in (just the day, no hour, no minute). That's it.

Anyone use +Flipboard? I like the discovery bits and the general interface. Been using it to supplement #theoldreader and #rss but I'd like to trim down and use just one. I'm planning on dropping all my news related feeds and trusting Cover Stories and smart magazines to get me what I really care about. (so that would drop the BBC, slashdot, extremetech, etc.) A couple of issues I haven't worked out and I'm wondering if someone can help me out:

1. I have a number of feeds (comics and a few blog feeds) where I want to see everything that is new so I don't miss anything but they aren't frequent enough to check everyday so I'd like some sort of new/unread notification or such. It doesn't look like +Flipboard can handle this? Any creative solutions?

2. I can't seem to add +Diesel Sweeties as a feed. I try to add it the way I add other comics (I search for the rss url and select the Social tab) but nothing shows up. I'm guessing there might be something in the RSS that Flipboard doesn't understand but I'm not seeing any sort of diagnostic feedback. The RSS url is www.dieselsweeties.com/ds-unifeed.xml

I think if I can fix these couple of issues I can completely switch to Flipboard. Until then, I'm probably dropping news from The Old Reader and just using that for comics.

Ok, interesting option for IoT/WSN communication. A lot of ppl get a 2g sim and service for a few dollars a month. Includes like 10mb of data and maybe 100 TXT messages. FreedomPop has an offer going right now, 4G LTE SIM for $1 including a free month of their premium service (unlimited talk/text, 2G high speed data). But they have a free monthly plan that's 200 minutes, 500 txt, 500mb data. Not much, but for interesting IoT applications it should be plenty. I'm probably getting one just to have an emergency SIM around for a backup phone.

Just out today, not bad for a $450 base level scope. Might have to buy one.
