The enemy moves when you do. It makes things a bit more interesting!

Batching, chunk generation, and previously I did away with all lighting and used a basic vertex color shader with the lighting cooked in.

The device I'm testing on is a little too old. I'd like to get something comparable to an Ouya or possibly the Amazon FireTV so I can get information that's a bit more clear.

Main issue is really just putting triangles on the screen with my ageing tablet. Running the game at a lower resolution helps- but then it looks like garbage. Right now I'm not dead set on mobile as optimization really has been the enemy- and I'd rather just do a game first. I already optimize things in general, so if it doesn't run on mobile, I'll have to live with it.

Voxelated meshes are surprisingly high-poly if you don't keep the art very 'square'. A rounded corner- or say a sphere- ends up eating a ton of polygons. As retro as these blocky guys look, true low poly models would perform a lot better.

Haha, just trying to get lighting right. We also typically add grit as noise to our textures, but now I'm using a shader to do it.

Not even trying to make things look dirty- just trying to make things less 'flat'

Man, you really accomplished a lot in 48 hours. The game looks great! Maybe networked multiplayer sequel in the future?

Very cool stuff. Andrew: BitBrawlers looks great!

If you get a chance to post-process these, you should slap on an audio compressor to minimize the difference between quiet and loud.

Game Developer without enough time!
Introduction
I'm a game developer / programmer who currently works with Unity and AS3, although I've used some other web based development languages. Originally a website designer, now turned to unity and flash gaming.

Half Life 2/Garry's Mod brought me into a little C++ and lua scripting. At work I was using a small bit of AS3, and when I eventually made the connection, I became a game developer.

Throw me in:

-flashdev

I'm totally awesome :D
