Growing up in the 1980s and having grandparents who lived on Catalina meant that we used to spend summer vacations and winter holidays in Avalon. In those days, we were forced to take the old Red & White ferries across the channel. What is now best described as a 45 minute "jaunt" was back then, invariably, a grueling 2 hour epic battle with seasickness and nausea, as the horizon bobbed up and down, left and right, back and forth and back again for what seemed like an eternity. On the occasion of a very rough passage, we could sometimes stave off the green gills with the adventures to be had under the waves splashing onto the bow, but it was usually only a momentary respite before we were ordered back inside, our clothes now soaked and our brows dripping. And, soon enough, our stomachs churning. The trip took on infamous status in my young imagination. Looking back with the benefit of perspective, I see now that it was an important part of the narrative cycle that made the island such a mystical place. These trips were a literal rite of passage, a trial to be endured in order that the spoils of a child's life in Avalon could be deservedly enjoyed. But although I can look back fondly on that time today, it truly was a miserable experience. When the modern Express boats started to come online, the relief was like one might expect to find in witness of the miraculous. Like walking on water; after all those years of treachery it was as if the trip had suddenly been transformed to a pleasure cruise, so smooth and easy, so natural and fast. So as you enjoy your ride over today, know that this is not just the banal mode of transportation it seems but truly a remarkable technological innovation. We're lucky to have the Catalina Express.

This company does not pay its bills, still owes me tens of thousands of dollars for contract marketing services. If asked to perform work, get paid before delivery. You've been warned.

My dad was drafted to serve in the military during the last few years of the Vietnam war. He was one of the lucky few who drew a card that sent him to Germany rather than the jungles of southeast Asia. What I got from this legacy was a handed down love for German culture, and an appreciation in particular for German food and beer. Nowhere in the Bay Area can you get a tastier glimpse of both than at Rita's German Deli, AKA Munchner Haus. I don't know for a fact, but suspect the lovely blonde woman we meet behind the counter is Frau Rita herself. She has been making the most amazing sandwiches and serving my family the best German treats since we moved to Fremont in 1989. My only complaint is that she no longer serves the pork roast sandwich. It was literally bliss served hot on a bun. But the remaining fare is all delicious. Take your time here. Dine in or grab a beer as you wait for your order to prep. Transport yourself for a minute to the German countryside. Life is good. Thank you, Munchner Haus!

I love this FedEx location. I come here 5 or 6 times a month to ship items and the staff is always helpful and very friendly. Linda is especially welcoming and after a few visits began to recognize me and the special needs I require for my items. Haters gonna hate, but pay them no mind. Trolling on the Interwebs comes much too easy to too many people.

We have consulted Joseph on several occasions over the last few years to gain legal assistance on a full range of business law problems -- from understanding and crafting contract language and dealing with contract disputes to handling disagreements with vendors and even some help pursuing remedy for equipment theft. Needless to say, we could not be more pleased with his counsel and advice. Joe maintains a formidable legal repertoire and makes an elegant demonstration of his expertise, especially in contract law. His assistance with both writing and interpreting contracts has been invaluable to our business decision making. And his professional candor has saved us countless hours of wasteful wheel spinning. The insights, confidence and comfort you gain from working with a competent attorney like Joseph is priceless. Why lose any more sleep? Do yourself a favor and "call Joe."
