In May, I will be participating in the Trailblaze Challenge benefiting Make-A-Wish® South Carolina.  In just one amazing day, I will be trekking across a 28.3 mile section of the Foothills Trail in South Carolina.  The goal is to complete this amazing challenge in one day, rain or shine, AND raise $2,500 for Make-A-Wish!

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  A wish come true empowers children to fight harder against their illnesses.  *When they are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days, or a week; That experience improves the quality of life for them and their entire family.* In fact, a combined 89 percent of doctors, nurses and health professionals surveyed say they believe a wish experience can influence wish kids' physical health.

Making a donation is easy and secure! Just click the "GIVE NOW" button on my page to make a donation that will be credited to my fundraising. Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated, and is 100% tax deductible. Please be assured that your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively to grant vital wishes for children in our community.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of every child in our state with life-threatening medical conditions.

Thank you for helping me recognize this special occasion, and for supporting the mission of Make-A-Wish.

Today is the only day this website has ever said this. And it's the only day it ever will.

Just finished Chapter 1 of the new King's Quest.

I very much enjoyed it. My only complaint is not being able to skip cut scenes after you die, really. It's funny, charming, and beautiful. Nice little easter eggs and nods to the old series, and The Princess Bride all over the place too.

Bob Ross' YouTube channel has uploaded the very first episode. I'm hoping this means they start putting up the whole series. Bob Ross was nearly as much a part of my childhood as Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers.

I was terribly sad when this news crossed my feed this morning. +Joe Philley was a really nice guy, and I traded many messages with him when #Ingress  was just launching. When I was essentially the lone Enlightened where I live, Joe personally came through with 5 invites to get the Enlightened started in my area, way back in November 2012. Special thanks to +w smiley (who played Resistance at the time) for the introduction.

I'm glad I got a chance to meet him, thank him in person, and share great times with hundreds of other Ingress players. Though I'm long retired, Ingress will hold a special place in my gaming memory forever, and Joe was the social face of it.

You will be missed, sir. #RIPJoe   #RIPJoePhilley

Man, this is crazy. High speed film focused on an object is able to detect movement from plants and chip bags (and presumably any other object that would react well to vibrations), and recreate the sound that made it move.

This is like next level James Bond stuff, and it's already here.

One of my favorite stores in Columbia. From old-timey toys and barrels of candy, to great outdoor clothes and camping gear, to music and kitchen cookery they have a great variety. The staff is kind, and the store is just a lot of fun.

I went to the Field Museum for the Terracotta Warriors exhibit, and found myself enthralled for hours with all the offerings. Expert taxidermy brought animals to "life" in a way I couldn't have imagined. Walking through the history of the Earth was amazing. Walking through an African village and an Egyptian pyramid was icing on the cake. I spent hours here and feel I only scratched the surface.

Crowded, loud, and action packed, this is everything a fair should be. Petting animals, riding an elephant, carnival games, and a wonderfully weird selection of delicious fair food make the SC State Fair a highlight of fall.

Riverbanks is one of the best zoos around. Between feeding the giraffes, eating beside an island of swinging gibbons, the splash pad for kids, pony rides, a botanical garden, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!), and even a zip line course across the Saluda River there is no end of stuff to do for every age. Add in Halloween and Christmas events, music, wine and beer fundraisers and it's simply a highlight of any trip to Columbia.
