Want to learn about what the media gets wrong about the Governor Sam #Brownback #Kansas tax cuts? Dave Trabert of the #KansasPolicyInstitute talks to #TravisBrown at the 2015 #AmericanLegislativeExchangeCouncil conference on why Kansas' economic outlook has actually improved in the last two years and why you can't spend your way to prosperity.

Ever used any of the data in Rich States, Poor States? At this year’s American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Convention, co-authors Stephen Moore and Dr. Art Laffer talk about how they come up with much of the intellectual ammunition that goes into the “economic Bible” and some of the facts and figures from the book they co-authored along with Travis Brown and Rex Sinquefield, Wealth of States.

Numbers don’t lie – “there has been so much growth in the red states, and so much exodus in the blue states,” said Stephen Moore. In the book, Wealth of States, “four of the largest states in the US – Texas, California, Florida, and New York – account for 1/3 of the population…but since people vote with their feet, they are leaving the blue states of California and New York for Texas and Florida where there is no income tax.”

People certainly aren’t leaving beautiful  San Diego for Houston because of the weather. It’s because of simple tax policy.

#TraviBrown, CEO of #FirstRuleMediaNetwork, brings you the #FirstRuleMinute. Everything about #TheDonald is larger than life – from his ridiculous catchphrases to his cartoonish hair. But has he gone too far? His outlandish remarks about #Latino immigrants during his #presidential announcement speech has angered #Democrats, embarrassed #Republicans, and destroyed several business deals.

What does #Trump's candidacy mean for the #2016 election? And will Travis love it or shove it?

Live free or . . . move to another state? That’s the question with which New Hampshire companies are grappling, as Democratic Governor Maggie Hassan vetoed a change to the state’s business tax structure that would’ve made New Hampshire friendlier to both large corporations and start-ups alike.

#TravisBrown talks to Rep. Kenneth Weyler (NH) at the 2015 #ALEC Conference in San Diego. Weyler is a 20 year member of ALEC where he comes to learn about fiscal policy from leaders like #JonathanWilliams with #RichStatesPoorStates that he can take back to the people of #NH.

At present, the Granite State’s status as a no-income-tax and no-sales-tax state help it land squarely on the #TaxFoundation’s top-ten list of states with the best business climate. It routinely gains wealth and population, particularly from its high-tax neighbors (between 1992 and 2011, the state of Massachusetts alone contributed $3.23 billion in net adjusted gross income to the New Hampshire economy).

#SenBobOnder's home state of #Missouri has ranked 49th out of 50th in #economic growth over the last 15 years, and he wants to change that static. When competing with other Midwest states for jobs, Missouri is losing to #Ohio, who under #JohnKasich has made significant #taxcut gains, and to #Michigan, where they have changed the labor laws.

Watch Travis Brown on Fox & Friends August 8 at 7:45 am EST for a look at the history of the electoral map in the last election of the key states where Obama’s margin of victory was only 1-2 points. Where do Republican nominees stand in those states?

Introduction

Travis H. Brown is the author of How Money Walks and the co-author of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of States (with Art Laffer, Steve Moore, and Rex Sinquefield). Brown is an entrepreneur with a passion for helping cities and states grow via smart tax policies. He’s a frequent contributor to Fox and Friends as well as Forbes.com, and has appeared on various radio and television broadcasts such as Fox Business Network, CNBC, Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo, NPR’s All Things Considered, Bloomberg News, and CSPAN. Publications including US News and World Report, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Fiscal Times, and the Dallas Morning News have cited Brown’s work when reporting on taxes and the economy.

As an issue-advocate who has worked across 35 states throughout the past 20 years, Brown’s unique experience led his firm, Pelopidas, LLC (pronounced pe-LOP’ a dus), to find a way to share how working wealth was moving nationwide. Pelopidas, which is Greek for "freedom-fighting,” is most often recognized as an issue advocacy firm that takes on tough state and local issues that others often try to avoid. The company is based in both St. Louis, MO, and Miami, FL. A core mission at Pelopidas is to recruit, build, and serve as "happy warriors," spreading the fundamental truths that need to be told. Brown embraces the role of assembling and supporting the best and brightest to work on the issues of the day, such as holding schools more accountable to individualized learning, improving states’ job climates, and enhancing their urban engines.

Tackling tough issues that often miss their moment is a source of pride in Brown’s issue-based work. Civic leaders such as the late Lamar Hunt, then the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs Football Club, hired his firm to pursue funding solutions for restoring Arrowhead Stadium. Medical doctors across the fields of anesthesia, cardiology, and orthopedic medicine have worked with his team to improve patient safety and tort reform laws. Over the last several years, Brown has applied his attention to increasing tax policy awareness through the passage of several statewide ballot initiatives related to earnings taxes and city governance.

Brown’s career advising governors, chief executives, legislatures, mayors, and venture philanthropists got started by lobbying for his alma mater, the University of Missouri-Columbia. His undergraduate degrees were in both agricultural economics and political science from Mizzou, with an MBA from Washington University in Saint Louis. His corporate work in sales, marketing, and government affairs has included such companies or clients as the American Home Products Corporation, the Monsanto Company, the Oracle Corporation, the American Petroleum Institute, and Procter & Gamble.

A pilot himself, by bush-flying America to spread the results about where our growth is going, Brown hopes to inspire new small-business champions, non-profit charities, and community leaders to prepare their regions for our highly mobile age. Brown remains a serial small business owner at heart. He applies his passions for flying, bird hunting, sports, and wine collecting every chance that he gets. Dedicated to helping America improve, Brown sits on the board of the Saint Louis Science Center and is the vice chairman of the Wings of Hope Board of Directors.
