One of our very favorite places on the East Coast, the beautiful city of #Annapolis often gets overlooked in favor of its larger neighbors like Baltimore or Washington, DC. But there are so many fun things to do in Annapolis, #Maryland. #travel

Updated for 2018: 13 WAYS TO EXPERIENCE THE BEST OF BRUSSELS

Brussels is a complex city. Both historic and modern, ornate and sleek, busy and quiet, the city has different personalities in only the span of a few blocks. But despite these contrasts (or maybe because of them), there’s something new and different at every turn in #Brussels. And I loved every bit of it. #travel

Updated for 2018: A WEEKEND IN BEAUTIFUL BERGEN, NORWAY

The hills, fjords, and harbor of Bergen, Norway, make it the ideal destination for a weekend in this beautiful country. Bergen exudes so much charm and small-town feel, you’d never know it’s actually Norway’s second largest city. For many visitors, a sunny day in #Bergen is like a unicorn, but we lucked out and had fantastic weather for most of our time there, which allowed us to explore all the best things to do in Bergen during our #trip to #Norway. Here’s a look at some of our favorites. #travel

NORWAY ITINERARY

With soaring stave churches, stirring landscapes, medieval history, and plenty of modern attractions to keep you entertained, its no wonder that the popularity of #Norway has grown in recent years. It’s a destination that offers a wide mix of attractions both indoors and outdoors, and everything has a uniquely #Norwegian twist. While we tend to seek out beaches more than snow, Norway in #winter offers a special appeal we couldn’t turn down—the chance to see the Northern Lights, ice-covered fjords, sled dogs at work, and the glory of Norway’s largest cities.#travel

Updated for 2018: THE APOCALYPTIC ABANDONED PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE

These days, it seems America is infatuated with #abandoned places (#urbex). A whole genre of urban decay tourism has sprung up in Rust Belt cities from Detroit to Gary, Indiana. The Keystone State has its own monuments to change. Recently I set out with a few friends to see the Rays Hill Tunnel on the Abandoned #Pennsylvania #Turnpike.

Updated: WHAT IS ALBANIAN FOOD, ANYWAY?

As with everything else when we started planning our trip to #Albania, the idea of Albanian food was a big question mark in our minds. For no good reason, our expectations of the #food weren’t high, but we assumed we would make the best of whatever we were faced with. And, if that didn’t work, I had protein bars in my bag. We were blown away. #travel

THE INTRIGUING BEAUTY OF THE PAINTED CHURCHES OF TEXAS

There’s something special about a country church. The sweet smell of a well-used hymnal, the creak of a pew that’s hosted generations of families, the ever-present register board showing last week’s attendance and offering. Often, they’re simple—wood and some basic stained glass. At least that was the aesthetic I was used to as a child at my grandmother’s church in her tiny East #Texas town, population 113. It turns out that while the spirit inside is quite similar, not all country #churches look the same. Some of them—like the painted churches of Texas—are absolute works of art. #travel

Update for 2018: DRIVING THE THRILLING CAUSEWAY COASTAL ROUTE

The rolling hills of the Emerald Isle become more pronounced as you reach the Antrim Coast of Northern #Ireland. The hills push up to the sea creating jaw dropping green cliffs. Carved into the cliffs and perched on the hills, the #Antrim #Coast Road links castles, caves, sandy beaches, small towns, and amazing geological formations. The Causeway Coastal Route is one of the most beautiful drives anywhere in the world. #travel

Updated for 2018: 12 DELICIOUS DUTCH FOODS TO TRY IN AMSTERDAM

One of the best ways to get to know a country is through its #food. You learn about the history, culture, and preferences of a people based on the things they eat every day. And if you’re lucky, the process tends to be pretty delicious. I had no idea what to expect of #Netherlands cuisine when I arrived in #Amsterdam. All I knew of #Dutch food was cheese and beer, which doesn’t even scratch the surface of the treats available in the Netherlands.
