He’s making a list, and checking it twice…
This painting by George Hinke is from my favorite Christmas book, Jolly Old Santa Claus. As a child I was fascinated by the many details- from the antics of the elves, the Good Boys And Girls ledger and the day calendar, to his housecat staring right at you just as cats do. All the illustrations are similarly clever and rich in romantic Christmas nostalgia.

#Celebrate the holidays. It’s an ideal time to relieve stress, not add to it. Many people approach holiday celebrations by restricting themselves, avoiding food and drink indulgences; holding back at dinners and parties.
My opinion is this is the opposite of what’s beneficial. Be mindful of your diet, food selections, portion size, etc. throughout the year generally. But enjoy yourself at special times, without worry. You’ll be less likely to indulge and make poor choices at other times. You won’t have to miss out on foods you enjoy, which may be seasonal or unique to the occasion. And you’ll have more fun! #smartermoves

Increased range of motion - #flexibility - enhances a muscle’s ability to generate force during contraction. Every one of my clients experience increased strength and agility as their #mobility improves.

If you’re not flexible, you’re not strong – at least not as strong as you easily could be.

If you’re not flexible, when you try to move athletically your muscles will not lengthen as needed, and you risk injury.

As you age, your body loses some of its pliability. Being less active magnifies the condition.
To maintain joint #flexibility and muscular performance, you have to commit a greater proportion of your training time to #mobility work.

If you’re in a regular exercise program, or planning to be, the first step is flexibility (more specifically termed “mobility”- the ability to be mobile). Increasing your range of motion and tissue pliability is the single best return on your workout time investment. I'm not talking about a yoga class (though they’re great), or a few minutes at the start or end of a group class. Mobility work is a systematic and comprehensive approach that is unique to each person. You’ll immediately notice greater force production and freedom of movement from your muscles. #mobility #personaltraining #flexibility
