From 1 July 2018 a new "GST withholding" regime commences whereby buyers of new residential premises or potential residential land will be required to withhold and remit GST portion of the sale price directly to the ATO.

The new requirement is aimed at property developers who fail to remit GST to the ATO despite claiming input tax credits.

Footy Finals Weekend!

Whether you are an AFL follower or an NRL worshipper, it’s time to gather friends together for some good old fashioned rivalry. Whether you are staying at home and watching with the family, heading to the arena, cooking a BBQ with friends or visiting the local pub, you will be in for a big weekend. Even if you are sitting on the sidelines, with no interest in either sport, you too will be affected by either ridiculous traffic, shortage of beer or loud neighbours. This truly is Australia’s celebration weekend. So how do we make the most of it?

Find Friends
Much like Christmas and Easter and life in general, the finals are best enjoyed with other people. No one wants to be the guy who sits alone at home, in the dark, shouting and encouraging and looking around to high-five the closest person in celebration only to find that the only other person is, in fact, his reflection. Gather your friends, gather your family and make an event of it. Even if you’re not into sports, you’ll get a laugh, or at least a good meal.

Keep the Rivalry Healthy
AFL or NRL? Swans or Bulldogs? Storm or Sharks? To be or not to be? It’s the time of life’s big questions, of age old debates and of really forcing your team’s colours in everyone else’s face. But let’s keep it friendly. If you come on too strong, you will be that guy next year and there will be no avoiding it. Sitting alone, buried under your team colours and posting provocative messages on the social media of the rival team, simply because you have no one else to hand it to. Play it nice, keep it moderate and you’ll be grateful later.

Prepare the Hangover Cures
The morning after is always the worst. If you can, moderate yourself so you don’t get a visit from the hangover demon. But if that doesn’t suit you, make sure you prepare yourself. Water, toast, 7/11 slurpees, prairie oyster, coconut water, more drinking… There are many hangover cures out there so make sure you know what works best for you.

Stay safe, have fun and make sure you enjoy the time with family and friends. Happy Season’s end!
