Did you know that honey is harvested on top of the Waldorf Astoria?

#LocalGuides
Buzz Worthy. Waldorf Astoria New York Takes the Locavore Movement to New Heights. By Sara Reistad-Long. It's one of New York City's most legendary buildings. And it's keeping a secret. On a rooftop deck with a sweeping view, 20 stories above Park Avenue, there are bees. Lots of them.

Since it's within driving distance of the Triangle, has anyone actually been to Land of Oz? It's on my United States bucket list for sure!

Just saw the reviews and +Sammi Hilliard was there for a wedding. So lucky!

Me too, +Garni Gharekhanian but we can always support them on off-days and it's a pre-selected crawl, easy! :)

Strip by Strega opens next weekend, anyone going?

Check out the full feature by Zagat here: http://goo.gl/QGesLJ.
Hope you're hungry. Because hefty prime cuts and a three-pound lobster await when Strip by Strega, the latest venture from colorful restaurateur Nick Varano (Strega, Strega Waterfront), opens on Saturday, April 18. Here's your early look at the dinner and lunch menus. In the kitchen ...

I'm curious to see if larger-than-life Mr. Varano can succeed where so many other ventures have failed.   It will be tough to compete against nearby chain steakhouse Fleming's which is just so consistently excellent at a moderate price point.

Toured the East Village with a group of Googlers and Manhattan Sideways. Discovered Pink Olive which may be my new favorite shop in the world with its selection of both NYC and general goods.

+Headley Duncan I'll keep an eye out for that. I love the subway mosaics. There's a great book from a few years back worth reading. I'll check my bookshelf for the title.

+Maxim R I'm a little shocked, too but admit my curiosity will probably get me there despite the cost.

Really cute gallery with knowledgeable staff. I was here on the evening that both artists were in residence and loved the way the pieces were organized (one on either side and across the center). Bright space, good amount of room to step back and appreciate.

What a cute shop that despite its size, is bright and airy. Offering materials of all kinds (silver, gold-ish and costume), the pieces range from delicate to chunky at all price ranges. The owner, Helen, will even adjust rings on site for you to ensure a good fit as well as commission custom pieces.

While the shop is small, there are floor to ceiling selections of various regions. The owners are knowledgeable, friendly and prices are reasonable.

This is the go-to place if you're looking to relive your childhood or secure a costume for a party. Limited selection of toys but huge selection of jerseys, jackets and Mr. Throwback apparel. Very cool staff that doesn't mind if you pop in without buying, which is good since prices are a bit high ($100 for a Michael Jordan tee) but well worth it since they source the items themselves.

Despite the smaller size of all the shops in the area, Pork Pie has a huge selection of hats in all materials, sizes and styles, including a big selection of NYC-friendly crushable hats. Prices range from affordable to super pricy, but if you're looking for a hat, this is the place.

Small shop with cute, trendy and faux trendy items including hats, sweaters and leather baseball hats. Looking for a sassy or meme-ish shirt that doesn't look juvenile? Definitely pop in.

Great selection of beers from around the world in both coolers, shelves and on tap but seating is limited to a few tables in the back and one up front. Great to pop by to try before you buy (but you'll pay). Knowledgeable staff.
