This is my review of Toyota of Santa Fe after having purchased a used car from them. These are just the facts here and you decide your opinion for yourself. From my experience, this is why you see a one star review of this dealership. • New Mexico state law requires an oil change before the sale of any car, and I’m not sure what type of oil was put in the car. When I got the car home from the dealership I noticed the engine was making a whining noise. I should have taken it back, but instead I changed the oil, metal chunks and silver swirls came out. After the oil change however, the car did sound phenomenally better. I then, out of fear, paid to have it professionally inspected by another dealership to make sure. • I ended up paying the asking price for the car since the dealer would not negotiate. When I picked up the car I was informed that used cars do not get a full tank of gas. Immediately after leaving the dealership I had to go to the gas station to have enough gas to get home. I did express my concern to the salesman at time of delivery and was told “that is our policy”. • My salesman told me that the car would be detailed prior to me picking it up. This actually involved them wiping down the car with a towel to get the dirt off, not using water or soap, the interior was not vacuumed or wiped down for dust. This left a multitude of scratch marks all over the paint which then needed to be cut to remove the damage. • The salesman told me that the car was inspected for frame damage. Once I got home and had some time to go over the car, the rear bumper was crooked, after inspecting underneath the car, I could tell it was previously removed in order to be painted and no longer sat right because of some form of damage. This damage was also not disclosed was during their inspection? I did ask the salesman this over text afterwards but there was no response. • After 38 days of no communication from them about the status of my registration/license plate, I called, 3 times, and was eventually informed that my car required an emissions test, which they forgot to tell me was required during the time of sale. NM charges dealers late fees for taking longer than 30 days to register a car after sale. • New tires were installed on the car prior to sale, Fuzion brand. These tires were adequate, but were the absolute cheapest you can get, with bad road noise and road handling. The tire retailer I frequently visit recommended immediate replacement, as these were not adequate for long-term use on the car. From what I understand listening to the person who did my finances, it sounds like they are undergoing some cost cutting measures to make sure the dealership is lean again and making money like it should. But what cost is this coming at? And why are they wasting money with not registering the car within 30 days? After having purchased a multitude of cars in the last decade, dealers like this erode consumer confidence and have fear of getting ripped off when buying a car.

I was in town visiting my aunt last summer and she wanted help purchasing a newer vehicle. She had narrowed down the list of potentials. Trini Gallegos had already been in contact with her since she had owned Toyota products since 2001 and already had done business with the dealership. He informed us of an upcoming sale and recommended we wait a couple days till then. On the day of the sale, we went to the location (at some mall in the area) where they brought the sale vehicles. The staff at the location was almost indifferent to us being there, but that's actually better than being mobbed. Trini was down there 15 minutes after calling him and we were able to quickly find a used Rav4 that my aunt really liked. Weren't able to negotiate much off the price, but the vehicle had already been on the lot for a while and was discounted accordingly for the sale. We met back up at the dealership and went through the buying process. The experience at the dealership was long (they always are), but uneventful. The usual up-sale stuff for warranties, but they were polite and we were polite. Overall the dealership experience was great. Usually used car sales process and the salesmen are most.....unpleasant. Trini is a clear step up from most car salesmen. He is up front and business like. He didn't try to pull any of the tricks or high pressure tactics that so many salesmen employ. I was expecting something after working in and around dealerships for a number of years. Sort of disappointed I didn't get the chance to spar with them. In the end he made sure my aunt was totally pleased with the whole process.

Steve Smith was awesome. He always did what he said he would, even if it was as simple as giving me a call to update me on the status on the vehicle I purchased as it was being repaired. The drive to Santa Fe was totally worth it. Got the car I wanted, for the price I wanted, and was treated well!!

I owned a Toyota scion and came to the Toyota dealer in Santa Fe after moving from California. I first went to Toyota looking to trade in my car for a AWD or 4WD. The first time Steve helped us but we didn't find the car we wanted, even though he was knowledgeable about all the cars on the lot and did a great job showing us around. We came back 2 days later to see if they had received anything new and we met DEL MONTOYA and we really loved working with him. He really made our experience worthwhile and we were ready to buy a car but the finance dept didn't get back to us for 4 days so we came back again, only because of Del. For us he was the reason we would have bought a car from Toyota. I give him 5 STARS but because the finance dept. dropped the ball I give it 4 stars. It's because of salesman like Del that made our experience special I will definitely come back when purchasing another car and recommend Del for the job. He really listened to our needs, was professional and extremely courteous and patient with our requests. Honestly, he's the major reason I would ever come back...not that the other people we worked with weren't professional and helpful, as there were others but I feel I need to give special thanks to special people that deserve recognition and recommendations.

Buddy Espinosa and Jamie Tasen were beyond professional, creative and overly considerate in helping me navigate through a difficult circumstance regarding a trade-in and the purchase of a new 2016 Prius.

The manager was rude. The car had 4 dents in it and they wanted $7,995, made an offer for 85% of their asking price, cash. They would only offered to sell at $7,795 best offer. I have no desire whatsoever to go back. I walked away, and I'm glad I did. The car was listed on Autotrader sometime around Wednesday Newly Listed for $7,995. Yesterday it showed that it's price was reduced from $8,995 to $7,995. That's misguiding and unethical. The salesman was nice and I wouldn't mind doing business with him but his manager was horrible.

Jeremiah, We frequently list vehicles very near the price we pay for them so we aren’t always able to accept lower offers. In some cases, such as yours, we make an exception. We’ve been trying to reach you. I can only hold this vehicle for you through today. Please email me at kirkk@toyotaofsantafe.com.

Toyota of Santa Fe bailed me out of a bad deal from Melloy Nissan. Nobody else in Albuquerque wouldn't give me what the Nissan was worth, including Nissan. Nissans are nice vehicles but not worth buying new at all. I put $9000 down on a new vehicle and drove off of the lot upside down. Toyota gave me what it was worth and then some. They also put me in a vehicle that I could have peace of mind in. Toyota is a great brand, they hold their value, last forever, and are trouble free. I was mistaken about Nissan. Don't buy one unless it's used. Go talk to Trini at Toyota and you'll have a good experience. He's honest and plays no games. This is why I'll be happy to go back as a retuning customer.
