#Uxmal, #Yucatan#Mexico

Uxmal was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Along with Chichen Itza and Mayapan, it is one of the most important pre-Hispanic capitals of ancient Mayan culture in Mexico.
It is 62 km from the city of Merida, the capital of that state, in southeastern Mexico.

The name of this prehispáncia capital comes from "Oxmal" which means "three times built" and that refers to the old city. However, it has not been able to find archaeological evidence to confirm those famous three 'moments of construction "that the legends refer.

The farthest thing about Uxmal is located in the Chilam Balam of Chumayel (compendium of books that tell part of the history and tradition of the ancient Maya people) and indicates that the first building was constructed around the seventh century. In the same written a second occupation, which could have taken place during the tenth century, by cultures from the Central Highlands it is registered.

#Palenque City is a city of Mayan origin located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, near the Usumacinta River, whose main attraction is the archaeological site of Palenque.

A few kilometers away are the waterfalls of Misol-Ha, Agua Azul waterfalls and Agua Clara, the Chacamax (Nututun) river. It is one of the most impressive sites of this culture. Compared to other Mayan cities, it is considered of medium size: smaller than Tikal or Copán, but stands out for its architectural and sculptural heritage.

Palenque means in Castilian roofing and fencing or cornered place, but the real name of Palenque is "Bakal-Ha" which means "many waters", a result of the many rivers that flow in Palenque.
