Thanks for your feedback and I’m really sorry that the technician was not able to diagnose your system correctly. I will discuss this with him and send him to more training to make sure it does not happen again.
About the upselling of a more expensive part, our techs are not trained to do that. We believe in doing what’s right for our customers, if the customers ever go away we go away.
About quoting the replacement system, the technician gave me the info but unfortunately I did not have a chance to follow up on it sooner because in the tech notes the attic access opening is only 20” wide. I needed to schedule a visit to see if there was a way to make the opening bigger and how that could be done, because all the high efficiency air handlers we install are 21” and larger.
About the quoted price to replace the motor, we charge a flat rate. We have a lot of parts in the vans but sometimes we need to go get the part at our shop or at the distributor and come back to replace it, always charging the same flat rate price. You also get one year labor warranty and we would replace it at no charge if it fails within the first year. It is also very expensive to run a small service company, the overhead, payroll, staff benefits, insurance, trucks, inventory and much more. That’s what determines our rates.
