“In honor of #LewisWeek at Torrey Gazette, I offer here a challenge! Take this 'Language of Malacandra Quiz' and come back at the end of the week for the answers. Or read Out of the Silent Planet, aka, the answer sheet. Best of luck!”

“Too often as Christians we treat Christian works (specifically Lewis’ books) as badges we earn, that we iron on to our little Christian vests for the world to see how well raised or erudite we are, and scoff at other Christians who don’t have the badges we have. I find this sinful and stupid. Unless it’s Scripture, you simply can’t judge someone for not reading a certain book. You just can’t. Not even C.S. Lewis. ”

“Why would we do this? Because whether or not there is disagreement on the stereotyping, I hope we can acknowledge that the Scriptures call us to the highest standard of protecting our brothers and sisters in Christ. Ingrained in the Christian community should be a desire to protect one another and keep them from harm.” http://buff.ly/20rcik2

“My son is Michael. I love him so much that I would die for him. Our family will walk side by side with him no matter what and I continue to pray that the battle will be won…in Jesus’ Name! To God be the glory for the great things He has done and will do!” http://buff.ly/1Rg3JSZ

“You have been blessed to grow up in a faithful covenant home, a home where your education is as much a matter of the heart as of the head. You have been given an opportunity, by God’s grace, to grow and to learn and to expand your tiny horizons. And here you stand, a gripe on your lips. Your education is not a ball-and-chain – it’s a springboard. Onward and upward. Be thankful for it. Take advantage of it.” http://buff.ly/1M1XAK3

“We are in the stage of presenting "greater honesty" to our family that experiences SSA. We are in the stage of giving "greater honor...that there may be no division." We must be hell bent on "the same care for one another." In due time, the church will be able to have these conversations within their own walls and within their own confessionals.” http://buff.ly/1MidWdm

“I’m writing so that I can be as transparent with people as possible. I’m writing so that there are no secrets of mine that are not readily available. I’m writing so that if there are those like me who are afraid of what might happen if they confess their sin, they can know that there are Christians out there who will lovingly and truthfully respond. I’m writing, also, so that Christians who aren’t like me will know a little of what it’s like, and perhaps will be able to empathize with their brothers and sisters who are homosexuals.” http://buff.ly/1LRtQfC

#tbt “With that Calvinism, there never should have been a YRR. There is no restlessness in Christ. Not in His gospel. Though at times painful it does seem that this truth is re-exerting itself. Though painful it is better to be like Calvin: old, worn and faithful.”

“Man can find out things like the water cycle and the movement of the sun in the sky. But, at the end of the day, we can give no answer as to why God made the world this way. For Solomon this is not a problem. For Solomon, the solution is humility. We must submit to the place that God put us in His creation.” http://buff.ly/1GT1VK3

“The cynic blindfolds himself against the light, the sentimentalist against the darkness, and they both stroll off the cliff. Chesterton begs us to be done with blindfolds altogether. Cliffs, metaphorical or otherwise, are bad for one's health.” http://buff.ly/1RlSlVm
