John Baldeo, owner, came to New York City in the early 1980s and worked in the health food industry after earning his degree in Commerce and Economics in Guyana, South America. He started out in a small store in the Bedford-Stuyvesant Gateway District and had to expand when the business grew. The current store is much larger at 1500 square feet, and has more stock available for customers on a regular basis.
John grew up on a farm in South America and has a good amount of knowledge about organic food. Shopping in Tony's with an owner like John may be more beneficial to customers than going to a store where they are nameless and the owner has never studied organic food.
Tony's has a good selection of food products for those who have wheat allergies and other medical concerns.
