Sometimes I feel my  wife pampers our dogs at times more than our family. Food advertising is a big industry. Warren Dotz the author of Ad Boy: Vintage Advertising with Character and Meet Mr. Product: The Art of the Advertising Character is up to his old tricks with his co-author Masud Husain.  They amassed a collection of old pet food vintage ads with a duo collection of books of  Dog Food for Thought and its companion book, Cat Food for Thought .  I have a bias for dogs but highly recommend the cat book also. Pets are not picky when it comes to advertising.  Companies cater to their owners. It’s amazing how advertising approaches the pet market when it comes to food.  Warren’s books are eye candy for the brain, his selection and theme ideas are a great addition to any collection for artists and non artists. There is food for thought for all.  Being a commercial artist, I find these little books a great inspiration.  I am in the middle of as campaign in creating a full package for a new dog food product and these little books came at the right time for me.  Keep an eye on these two little gems at your bookstore or online. Nicely priced and will not break any budget for both books.

If the cover designs are any clue, they look wonderful. I will definitely check them out!

Why do we have such an insatiable appetite for anything related to zombies? The Map of Zombies by Jason B. Thompson illustrates once again the popularity of zombies is still strong.

Here is one novelty item that can be found exclusively at Disney Parks. Walt Disney’s mustache in a plastic bag. There is a marketing genius out there patting himself/herself for calling it a mouse-stache. Somewhere else Sam Kinison is smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Wonder if there is a market for William Shatner’s rug?

If there is an Ebenezer in your life, this is the perfect gift for that scrooge. The Bah Humbug Christmas candy cane comes with no flavor, no stripes and no spirit.

Dead or alive, you’re drinking coffee with me! Robocup is based on a t-shirt idea come to life. It is perfect timing with the new RoboCop reboot.

What if Mick Jagger and Keith Richards joined the Beatles before George Harrison and Ringo Star ever got a chance to hook up with the band. The result would be The Rolling Beatles.

Even before they got rid of the Christmas stuff, my local pharmacy already has up Valentine’s Day cards and chocolates. At least let the year end. I find that a tad too early.

+Tony Medeiros Proof that this is normal. So why does it upset you? I can explain it from the other side of the curtain but for some reason it just doesn't compute with most people.

“Santa Claus is always bringing surprises to others. I thought it would be interesting if someone surprised him for a change. I’m rather tired of his tracking soot in here every year.”
