Why do large financial accounts like E*Trade and American Express prevent you from using special characters in your passwords and place an arbitrary length on them?

Seems you know more about this than me, my knowledge is limited. I agree that the big sites should have people that know better.

So I missed when this first came out: (expand read more for my comments)

http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/24/5441386/ethical-hacking-organization-website-defaced-with-snowden-passport

Basically a certifying agency for security professionals was hacked.  They store passports and photo id's of people who have been certified through them as "ethical hackers."  Snowden's passport was in their database and the attacker posted it to the website's home page.

Wait, Snowden was certified as ethical?  (I've had to sign an ethics agreement, and it explicitly prohibits the kinds of things Snowden did, whether you agree with them or not.)

Having been in the Military (twice) if there's one thing I've learned, it's that when the DOD has a requirement of something in order to be certified you better be very leery of it.

Airport 1: Lewisburg, wv. Remove jacket, shoes, take liquids out of carry-on. Remove laptop and camera from bag. Go thru metal detector. Have camera bag tested for explosives.

Airport 2: Austin, TX. Remove nothing. Go through metal detector. Have a nice day. TSA agent smiling. Not randomly different just for me, all passengers treated the same.

Airport 3: Charleston, WV. Remove jacket, remove shoes, LEAVE liquids, remove laptop and camera. Go through backscatter full body scan. Remove belt, get groped, get treated like shit by TSA and snapped at by guard for mentioning Austin experience.

There is the real problem with TSA. No consistency.

8 planes in 7 days.  More than one trip.  The fourth airport was even different from the other three!

Hood Ornament If I remember correctly this is from a tricked-out 1936 Model 48.  This is sized in widescreen and was uploaded at full resolution.  It should work great as a wallpaper.

I just found a Windows virus cleaner specifically designed for removing the Darlioz virus.  The Darlioz virus that only infects Linux web servers. Yeah , that one.  It makes me wonder what this "antivirus" actually does to your Windows computer when you install it... because it obviously ain't legit, if ya know what I'm saying.

My moms laptop ended up with the Windows Defender Virus, biggest pain in the arse part of that was finding out how to boot Win 7 into safe mode so I could download an antimalware program. Yea, that's how little I use Windows.

Don't snap any vacation photos in Hungary - you could get sued by anyone else in the background of the frame.  This really puts a damper on my planned vacation to Hungary.  Maybe I'll just have to go to the beach instead.

I find most of the evening news ridiculous. Not surprised about Hungary's decision in the least.

Placed a large order for a wedding reception weeks in advance. They were late having it ready and then gave us the wrong food - collards instead of meat! Refused to compensate us for the screw up. Don't count on them for anything, or to make it right when they screw up.

Great lodge if you don't need things like blow driers or phones or TV. They do have Internet though! Very nice and friendly owners. Offers a couple of pet friendly rooms. Better than a lot of brand name hotels I've stayed at but I did find the lack of TV in the room disappointing.
