In case you missed this publishing best practices tip...

Today’s #GooglePlay #Protip from +Katherine Kuan is about having a clean status bar for polished screenshots in your Google Play app listing.

The status bar should be consistent across all screenshots to minimize distraction away from the actual app content that the user should be focusing on. For example, use the same timestamp (use even-numbered timestamp), ensure full device battery, and ensure full signal strength.

Avoid having unnecessary icons in the status bar. Unnecessary icons include the volume state (i.e. vibrate), screenshot saved, pending alarm, or an email message. Just clear all notifications away.

You should also be able to get rid of the USB debugging icon. Depending on the device, you can take a screenshot with the hardware buttons. For example on Nexus 5, you can hold the Power + Volume down buttons at the same time (goo.gl/S8FSwT) to take a screenshot without having the device plugged into your computer.

Alternatively, to remove those icons, you could use photo editing software or try an app like this one (goo.gl/R45WEp) from +Emma Guy  This app draws a clean status bar across the top of your device.

Great news for both developers and HK consumers :)

More great news for SE Asia developers!  We now have seller support in Indonesia (IDR), Malaysia (MYR), Philippines (PHP) and Thailand (THB) :)
Use the table below for reference when registering as a Google Play Developer and a Google Wallet Merchant. Table Legend. Supports developer registration. ✔ - The location supports Google Play Developer Registration. ✘ - The location does not support Google Play Developer Registration.

Exciting!

Android Wear Developer Preview Now Available

Today, we announced that Android is extending to wearables with #AndroidWear. So how do you get started developing for Android Wear? Well, you probably already have. With Android Wear, notifications from your Android phone are automatically sent to your wrist.

You can also now sign up for the Android Wear Developer Preview which lets you customize notifications for the wrist. The Preview provides new APIs for wrist-based wearables, such as receiving voice replies, adding notification pages and stacking multiple notifications. There’s also a system image for the Android emulator to let you test your notifications.

To learn more about Android Wear and the Developer Preview, check out the blog post (linked below) and these #DevBytes episodes:

Also make sure to join the new Android Wear Developers community right here on Google+ to discuss your next wrist-based wearable project:
