Today’s #GooglePlay #Protip from +Katherine Kuan is about having a clean status bar for polished screenshots in your Google Play app listing.
The status bar should be consistent across all screenshots to minimize distraction away from the actual app content that the user should be focusing on. For example, use the same timestamp (use even-numbered timestamp), ensure full device battery, and ensure full signal strength.
Avoid having unnecessary icons in the status bar. Unnecessary icons include the volume state (i.e. vibrate), screenshot saved, pending alarm, or an email message. Just clear all notifications away.
You should also be able to get rid of the USB debugging icon. Depending on the device, you can take a screenshot with the hardware buttons. For example on Nexus 5, you can hold the Power + Volume down buttons at the same time (goo.gl/S8FSwT
) to take a screenshot without having the device plugged into your computer.
Alternatively, to remove those icons, you could use photo editing software or try an app like this one (goo.gl/R45WEp
) from +Emma Guy
This app draws a clean status bar across the top of your device.
