One of the "Inventions" Apple claims was violated was the look and feel of icons. Isn't that what Copyright laws are for? Of course, Copyright allows a claimant only damages, not injunction. Welcome to the new world, where corporations have even the legal system helping them become huge monopolies.
Someone asked me if I thought the magnetic power plug was Patentable. I said yes (assuming there isn't prior art, of course)... That is novel, and I think qualifies as an invention. The degree to which an icon is rounded does not.

Apple just won in their case against Samsung and Tim Cook has posted a memo to Apple employees. I’m not one of those but I feel pretty upset …

I have to agree.  It's lucky for us that the makers of cars don't use patents to lock out the use of airbags, seat belts and other safety features by their competitors.  This verdict essentially puts every website or smartphone app using accepted UI conventions at risk of being sued by patent trolls.  Ultimately, this means the companies that have the most patents get to stifle innovation.

If you want you're kids to know how to escape from inside refrigerators, then don't be too educated. ?

"It was also influenced by the educational level of the parents, a higher rate of success being associated with fewer years of education attained by mother and father combined."

Another theory: uneducated parents lock their kids in closets more often, hence they learn to escape tight spaces faster.  :-)  Kidding of course.  Who knows.

Depending on the audience, most popular might be all the episodes of 'Housewives of Blank (city)'... Maybe they have categories: Sports Nut, SciFi Nut, Pop Nut, Soap Nut, etc..

Awesome.  I could actually smell a vague hint of fall in the air early this morning.  I'm sure the heat isn't over, but something's afoot..

Ok, I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure Portal 2 makes you at least a few IQ points smarter.... :)

Tony, put an idea in Brainstorm--we'll do an experiment: take IQ test, play Portal 2, take IQ test again. Might take the rest of the month to see effects. Should probably use the entire office for appropriate sample size.
