A Novel Idea... and a very British result!
When I was younger, I used to dream about being able to afford a washing machine. My first was an old twin-tub and I loved it! Then a dryer and a dishwasher made my wishlist. Now I have all three, and am somewhat amused at my changed mindset. After a mammot...

My First Cooked Dinner!
While I'm totally confused by folks who post a picture of their meal every day, unless they're a chef, or it's something freaking amazing (or freaking crazy!), I thought today was enough of an occasion for me to post a picture of MY dinner.  My first cooked...

New Home Photos
Well, time to post photos of the new home for your enjoyment. I have a LOT of work to do in the house, and I'll post photos of the work in progress.  Here is the front driveway. I've discovered the tree-like bushes with the red flowers are Crepe Myrtle. And...

Dining and Officette Done!
If it's okay to have a kitchenette, I'm claiming an officette. So there! Lots of cleaning, unpacking, and arranging later, and I have the public living areas completed. The layout of the public areas are not pleasing, this will definitely be on the bucket l...

No sliding chain lock on MY door! ... or... Episode 2: 'Wicked' Strikes Again! (For Star Wars fans.)
Do you have one of those sliding door chains on your door?  Have you seen this? Uh huh. Well, you're too smart to have a door with a handle!  Um... yeah.  Remember my Wicked Locksmith from yesterday? Well, Wicked is far too sneaky for any old burglar. He ma...

Living room update
The living room is the first room that has been sort of completed. I say "sort of" because there have been all manner of issues with the house that have resulted in me not being able to do things that I wanted, such as painting.  Firstly, some before photos...

Introduction
I've discovered that I have a vibrant creative side, and I'm exploring both it and my world with enthusiasm and curiosity. I could probably be named after any one of the Seven Dwarves, but am working towards becoming more of an all-rounder like Snow White. :)

My husband, Himself, is a wonderful man who supports my madness as long as I keep him out of it! The Bratness is tolerant of her crazy mamma, and her offspring, Squiggs, thinks I'm hilarious.

To my delight, this gas station is literally just off the ramp to the Ronald Reagan Airport. They're so conveniently located if you're returning a rental car, I just had to review it so that folks would know. I only filled gas, so can't give much info, but it is easy access and on the way, so I'm recommending it.

Great center with a wide range of fun activities, classes, and services. It's called a "senior" center, but all ages are welcome and most of these seniors are so active and fun, they make ME feel old! :)

I've been using Saba Botanical's products for about five years now and have had superb results. Hairdressers exclaim over the excellent condition of my hair and I've even had the dubious honor of having my hair stroked, like a dog! (My hair is long and this person stood next to me talking to someone else and absent-mindedly stroking her hand down the length of my hair repetitively. Woof!) Although I've been using the Mahogany for a while now, I've shifted recently to the Red so as to have less contrast between the color and my greys. Both colors come out gorgeous! I mix it up in a soupy consistency and "wash" it into my scalp, then work it out to the ends. When finished I wrap the hair around my head, tuck long strands of cotton wool around the hairline to catch dribbles, and then wrap the lot with plastic wrap, drop the provided shower cap over it all, and wrap a towel headband around it to keep it all together (like one of those headbands they use in tennis!) After an hour or two (or three or six, depending on when I remember) I wash it out. There's a distinct mud smell, so I wash it out with a scented shampoo and conditioner set. I wash twice and rinse really, really well each time, then condition and rinse well again. My scalp is in great condition, no dandruff or flaking even in my humid climate, my hair feels soft and silky, and the gradient absorption of the henna by the hair folicles give me a very natural highlight look. Despite scuba diving in the ocean, swimming training in chlorine, exercise in humid climate, working in an air conditioned polar zone, and just generally living, my color does not fade or discolor. It looks natural and... young! :) I love this stuff and will never return to chemical colorants!

We've been working with BFI for about a year now and, to quote my broker, we've had "some of the most unusual insurance requests" he's ever seen. Nevertheless, he has come through every time! Dave Ramsey has them listed as an ELP (Endorsed Local Provider) and I endorse his endorsement. :) Covered: house, windstorm, commercial property, auto, personal liability, renters. Saved me a few thousand dollars in only one year. Yeah!

I've used this vendor now on multiple occasions over the past year and they have never let me down - even when I placed a frantic, last-minute order at 2:00a.m. for delivery at 9:00 a.m. the same day! The flowers are fresh, last for ages, and smell divine. The balloons are excellent quality and last for days, and the vases are teddy bears are terrific. The delighted recipients have consistently praised me for their wonderful goodies. What more could a sender want? I strongly recommend these wonderful folks and plan to pop in and visit them when I'm next in the country just so that I can say "thank you" personally!
