Kitchen Renovation Part 2 - Dismantling.
Dismantling Day! Just kidding. It wasn't as bad as that, we didn't really need to bring in the big guns. Only... our project began with a little misunderstanding. I was under the impression that we were going to do the kitchen one section at a time and so I...

Dublin, Texas - another Dublin visited!
Waaaaay back, in the mists of time, when the Bratness was about the age of Squiggs, we visited Dublin, South Africa. As this was in the Dark Ages when we didn't have digital cameras or smart phones, my photos of that event are, well, awful! Blurry, dark, un...

Wicked Crack Candy

What cooler weather?
First day of October in this great State of Texas, and I'm a bit puzzled over all the online commentary about the cooler weather. Leaves turning? Yup, got that. Pretty! Leaves falling? Yup, them too. Dang nuisance! Cooler weather? Uh... nope!  Texas at 2:00...

This was sent to me by a friend, I do not have any credit nor know who filmed it.  But I really want to buy this driver a beer!

Kitchen Renovation Part 1 - The Before.
This was the introduction to our new kitchen: the Realtor's photo, neatly labeled. Looks decent enough. Lots of cupboards, wood floors, ceiling fan - dunno how folks survive without  a ceiling fan in the kitchen - at least, in Texas! Now, before I continue,...

Business Boutique Dallas - my first businesswoman's conference!

Six weeks to Halloween! Disney Princess costumes
Quite a few folks have looked at my previous Halloween costume links where I painstakingly went through a bunch of costumes and matched them to patterns in the BurdaStyle online pattern store. For your viewing pleasure, here is the original post and here is...

Kitchen Photos.
Time for the kitchen, which is almost finished. I've got to clean a couple more cupboards, but as they're not currently in use, I'm focusing on more urgent matters.   Here's the realtor photo of the kitchen on the listing.  Not much has changed at this poin...

A Novel Idea... and a very British result!
When I was younger, I used to dream about being able to afford a washing machine. My first was an old twin-tub and I loved it! Then a dryer and a dishwasher made my wishlist. Now I have all three, and am somewhat amused at my changed mindset. After a mammot...

Total lunatic, with the attention span of ... oooh... shiny!....
Introduction
I've discovered that I have a vibrant creative side, and I'm exploring both it and my world with enthusiasm and curiosity. I could probably be named after any one of the Seven Dwarves, but am working towards becoming more of an all-rounder like Snow White. :)

My husband, Himself, is a wonderful man who supports my madness as long as I keep him out of it! The Bratness is tolerant of her crazy mamma, and her offspring, Squiggs, thinks I'm hilarious.

Great food, friendly service, and the outdoor seating is wonderful overlooking the river. So peaceful, yet right in the heart of town.

To my delight, this gas station is literally just off the ramp to the Ronald Reagan Airport. They're so conveniently located if you're returning a rental car, I just had to review it so that folks would know. I only filled gas, so can't give much info, but it is easy access and on the way, so I'm recommending it.

We've been working with BFI for about a year now and, to quote my broker, we've had "some of the most unusual insurance requests" he's ever seen. Nevertheless, he has come through every time! Dave Ramsey has them listed as an ELP (Endorsed Local Provider) and I endorse his endorsement. :) Covered: house, windstorm, commercial property, auto, personal liability, renters. Saved me a few thousand dollars in only one year. Yeah!

You know that saying: as honest as the day is long? Well, days must be very long when it comes to Eileen Morris! She is our Property Manager for rental property and I trust her implicitly. She is wonderful to deal with; always polite, informative, friendly, and takes really great care of our properties. Highly recommended!

Great center with a wide range of fun activities, classes, and services. It's called a "senior" center, but all ages are welcome and most of these seniors are so active and fun, they make ME feel old! :)

I've been using Saba Botanical's products for about five years now and have had superb results. Hairdressers exclaim over the excellent condition of my hair and I've even had the dubious honor of having my hair stroked, like a dog! (My hair is long and this person stood next to me talking to someone else and absent-mindedly stroking her hand down the length of my hair repetitively. Woof!) Although I've been using the Mahogany for a while now, I've shifted recently to the Red so as to have less contrast between the color and my greys. Both colors come out gorgeous! I mix it up in a soupy consistency and "wash" it into my scalp, then work it out to the ends. When finished I wrap the hair around my head, tuck long strands of cotton wool around the hairline to catch dribbles, and then wrap the lot with plastic wrap, drop the provided shower cap over it all, and wrap a towel headband around it to keep it all together (like one of those headbands they use in tennis!) After an hour or two (or three or six, depending on when I remember) I wash it out. There's a distinct mud smell, so I wash it out with a scented shampoo and conditioner set. I wash twice and rinse really, really well each time, then condition and rinse well again. My scalp is in great condition, no dandruff or flaking even in my humid climate, my hair feels soft and silky, and the gradient absorption of the henna by the hair folicles give me a very natural highlight look. Despite scuba diving in the ocean, swimming training in chlorine, exercise in humid climate, working in an air conditioned polar zone, and just generally living, my color does not fade or discolor. It looks natural and... young! :) I love this stuff and will never return to chemical colorants!
