The automotive industry may have made the horse (as transportation) obselete but it created more jobs than were taken away. New technologies create industries some that we probably can't imagine now. Automatic telephone switching got rid of telephone operators but that technology made the internet possible which created many more jobs than were lost by operators.

So you're kind of missing the point of the video. He didn't bring up the automotive industry to talk about the jobs lost to automated assembly lines. In his analogy, we are the horse replaced by car. We always believed that ,at the very least, creativity itself was a uniquely human trait so that there would always be an employable workforce of human inventors. But even this, the last bastion of human uniqueness will be overtaken by programs that can do the job much better. There will come a day when no job can be done more efficiently by humans than the programs we created. When that day comes, and it will come very soon, we're going to have to make some radical decisions about what kind of society we want to live in.

And still when you ask people for their public key they say, "What?". With PGP/GPG available on every platform, including Android, there is no reason anyone but the intended recipient should be reading your exchanges.

The prevailing opinion from security professionals is that fingerprints are perhaps a good replacement for usernames. However, they're really not a good replacement for passwords. Consider your laptop... How many fingerprints of yours are there on your laptop right now? As such, it's about as secret as your username. You don't leave your password on your spacebar, or on your beer bottle :-) #iphone6   #iphone6plus   #touchid   #fingerprint

Anonymous Releases Alleged Police Dispatch Audio From Ferguson Shooting

Ferguson asks St. Louis PD for assistance with "crowd control," 12:05pm(Anonymous: Audio Tapes (St. Louis Dispatch)) Aug 9: 09:30(Anonymous: Audio Tapes (St. Louis Dispatch))

The dispatch holds short of stating the reason, "Ferguson has a... asking for assistance with crowd control." There appears to be questioning as to the reason why there is a crowd or the need for control, and the dispatch explains that all they were told is that there is a large group and nothing further: 10:50 (Anonymous: Audio Tapes (St. Louis Dispatch))

The later, around 11:15, (Anonymous: Audio Tapes (St. Louis Dispatch)) she references that, "we just got another call," someone called in "officer involved shooting," and dispatch doesn't know who called it in.

"Be advised this information came from the news."

The question is, if Ferguson PD is requesting help with "crowd control," why didn't they tell St. Louis PD about the shooting? Why did St. Louis PD have to learn this from a news source calling it in? It's odd that a police department would ask for CC help from another PD without expelling the reason for it...

So St. Louis calls back Ferguson PD to ask about a shooting and "we just called Ferguson back again, and they don't know anything about it."

11:52 (Anonymous: Audio Tapes (St. Louis Dispatch))
