Node.js: the good, the bad, the ugly - why the hell would you use it?!

Own a business, starting up, or just want to convince your client, boss or the stakeholders why Node.js is the right way to go? Are you sure you are making the right choice, or need a supporting evidence? Lots has been written about Node.js, but people tell me they couldn't find it summarized in one place, so here it is - the good, the bad and the ugly of Node.js - if you fit in, just use it!
Node.js was never created to solve the compute scaling problem. It was created to solve the I/O scaling problem. Find out why, with case-by-case analysis.

This mainly concerns JavaScript developers, who are now being tossed between server and client side of things, but also 'frontend' guys who are now being put against MVC frameworks in the browser...

How do you feel like - application or UI guys? What are your thoughts on the matter? Appreciate all your thoughts...

+Cesar Nava Spawning a child process would do the work - see for example how is the imagemagick module for Node.js implemented by hooking into the ImageMagick binary (written in C) - https://github.com/rsms/node-imagemagick/blob/master/imagemagick.js

This mainly concerns JavaScript developers, who are now being tossed between server and client side of things... How do you feel like - application or UI guys, or do you find yourself to be truly and equally effective as devs in both roles?

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Thanks Lim for your thoughts and inputs - that's why I'm calling the UI role a developer role, too. This is a junction point where less experienced designers should be helped with transforming their designs, but ultimately, they're supposed to be able to learn and do it themselves with seniority.
