Bottle Forest … Elmer Long has been collecting bottles and making art out of them since he retired. If you drive from Victorville to Barstow on Route 66 you’ll pass by his collection. Stop by and he’ll invite you in to wander his bottle forest.

Short, sweet and simple. Good advice for anyone, but a definite hand-out for all the high-schoolers in our leadership class that tend to start everything at the last minute. Thanks +Leo Babauta

This will never happen where I live, but would be so cool if it did. Live music always seems to sound great in train stations. I wonder how odd all those folks wandering around the train station with instrument cases and music stands looked... I'd bet if this were in a large northeastern U.S. city, they'd have called in a SWAT team and bomb squad!

This was shot and edited by Bennett Litton, a film student at UW-Milwaukee. Nicely done with shots from all around the gorgeous Road America course.

Shake

Pet photographer Carli Davidson used a fast shutter speed to capture unusual portraits of dogs shaking off water. More of the series and her work is here: http://carlidavidson.photoshelter.com/

Cleaning out my 'soccer locker' folder and came across the weird and wacky collection of posters done by ESPN for the 2010 World Cup. I'll give 'em credit for the coverage and effort, but some of these are just strange, even if you do know the backstory.

Not really that big a fan of 90's dance music, but I do love acapella music, and these folks seem to be having a lot of fun with it. Love the banana mic! Enjoy!

In addition to college dining halls, this should be expanded to hospital cafeterias, and all those all-you-can buffet restaurants out there!

Learned something interesting: the Carillo dining hall of UCSB went to a "no-trays" policy to reduce food waste. In the past year, the management calculated this reduced waste by 60 tons and reduced water consumption by 1 million gallons.

Simply because people don't load up trays anymore. Something to think about...
