For this one, light was set up with similar placement as the previous image, but the 4x6 larson softbox to CL is turned down and the Photogenic 1500 CR has a snoot instead of a soft box and is moved in closer. I think the ratio was about 3:1 #sparkystyle

Matt, Your camera is only a teenager!  I just got my K5ii in November. I will probably upgrade to the K3 this fall. I'm more interested in broadening my glass collection.

Add a lust for the 645z to my "win the lottery" list. I hope some of those features come to a ff Pentax.

Lovely Lily Martins. I tried something new (for me) last night. Prompted by browsing fashion rags while waiting for my daughters cello lesson.

Lit with two Photogenic 1250's To CL is a 4x6 foot Larsen softbox placed in horizontal attitude, angled down slightly with the bottom of the softbox level with her chin and close to center. The other had a snoot, close to the model. CR and above (as the hard shadows show) I would estimate about a 3:1 power ratio. I haven't done much hard lighting with models. I kind of like the result. #sparkystyle #sparkymodels www.tomsparksphotography.com

I will be doing my first ever bridal and wedding show in a few months. What materials do I need to prepare for the show? What do you all suggest a photographer have to show prospects? If you were a bride, what do you want to see from a potential photographer?

Big prints (many media) and sample albums, slideshow of your best work - or a single wedding - on a big screen if you could. Depends on your booth size. Word of mouth is your best bet, through customer satisfaction. See this article by a great photographer I know personally. http://anneruthmann.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-secrets-to-finding-amazing-wedding.html

Violence against women is an issue that men should take a leadership role in. 1 in 4 college women have been raped. 99% of the abusers are men. http://www.tomsparksphotography.com/avnm/2014/4/12/one-in-four-vs-99.html #avnm

What is this test testing?

This is testing focusing consistency between the two different modes most DSLRs focus with. First they started with the regular phase detect focusing mode (without Live view), then they click on the live view on the back of the camera and test the camera's Contrast detect focusing mechanism.  They have the camera pointed at a fixed focusing target, and they're looking for focus misses, inconsistencies and hunting.

Regular focusing tests.

For the afternoon crowd.

Erin is a survivor of rape and domestic abuse. The young man she fell in love with, moved into her apartment and started slowly taking over her life. For several years she was beaten, raped, drugged and more. When the opportunity arose, she finally escaped and has moved on. Despite the horror of those years she has learned to love and has built a new family and is moving on, determined to know a full and loving life. She tells her story here: http://www.tomsparksphotography.com/avnm/2014/4/6/erins-story.html

This is the new version of Inkley's and it is so much better than just a few years ago. The staff understands cameras, they have all the goodies and they carry more than just 2 standard brands. My favorite, Pentax, is there! Customer service is fantastic and prices are competitive. I spend my gear dollars here rather than online stores because of the personalized service. I have purchased lighting gear, photo paper, camera bags, cameras, filters, etc. I recommend Inkley's to anyone from beginner to pro.
