Is this illegal or what?

So, now we find out IT savvy boyfriends are allowed access to top Government of Ontario computers & their files. Read the story and I sure hope there is jail time spent for those who perpetrated these acts of (breach of) trust against us. How knows what other access to sensitive files may have also been viewed, copied, transferred, deleted, etc and not just email relating to the Gas Plant issues. This really makes me angry and so should it for every Canadian, living inside or outside of Ontario.

I sometimes wonder why Canadian citizens are so apathetic and disinterested in politics. "Yep, the same old, same old...." or "All politicians are crooked..." "so why should I vote or waste time on them" is what I often read or hear. Not only should we make sure the full extent of the law is processed for this case but also make an example of them, all of them who were involved...

We're keeping our fingers crossed and holding our breath for our friend, Elaine Bogan who is nominated in this category...
Outstanding Achievement, Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production: Dragons: Defenders of Berk - DreamWorks Animation
I think the term in Hollywood for best wishes is, "_break a leg_" but win or lose, we are proud of her for being nominated to with this accomplished group of industry professionals.

Cheers Elaine!!!

Kudos & Congrats to Elaine Bogan, Annie Award Nominee

Elaine, we are very proud of you!!! Keep up the great work... :-)

Elaine is the daughter of a very good friend of mine. I've known her since she was knee high to a grasshopper and is extremely talented with her art, drawing and music but especially drawing. To even be nominated for a Annie award is quite the accomplishment. We are keeping our hopes up and fingers crossed for her. Who knows, maybe Elaine will be selected for her great work for Outstanding Achievement, Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production in Dragons: #DefendersOfBerk

3D Printing

This is one category of technology to watch. For my eyes, I am interested in the spin-off technology. Let me explain... 3D printing to day and for the foreseeable future is will be relatively slow. However, examples for apparel, electronics, etc, mass consumption items can be both prototyped and then... the parts can be then made for machinery to mass produce those items. Basically, from what I see, the sky is the limit... Lets take fashion for instance, you prototype a new blouse, everyone like it and then, make the parts required to mass produce that blouse in various colors & sizes on a machine that was also developed and prototyped by using a 3D printer. This is a prefect draw for the fashion industry to manufacture their products close(r) to their markets and reduce the inventory carrying charges and also reduce their carbon footprint. There will be less waste because the demand will control the manufacturing instead of forecasting months ahead of the season. See, the sky is the limit for new technologies like 3D printing and it will be very disruptive once we embrace it...

Top Talent is the Future of #SCM & #eCommerce, #Retail!

I've always been impressed with enthusiastic (usually younger) people. They're often giddy when they land their first job or have a brilliant idea. This article shows top #MIT  talent who are also enthusiastic.

Does your company have the talent required? It's important that MIT is producing great graduates in supply chain but it also shows to me that eCommerce retailers need to look at their overall talent. I believe the cleaner to the CEO all have value and everyone has a talent. It's also important that each manager look at their talent pool and bolster those areas where they see deficiencies. All teams win because of their bench strength and the corporate team needs to understand this concept, now more than ever with the metamorphosis occurring in supply chain management.

Well, it's interesting and I think it will be difficult to determine until the dust settles and stabilizes regarding eComm and Social Media interactions. Yes, the COO needs to be involved and also like the article states the CMO and further down the road sales and IT will need to get their hands dirty. This is the issue, most companies don't know how their customer/corporate/community social responsibility (CSR) will evolve so it's difficult to know what area of a company should be responsible at this time. However, I see this evolving into a board officer charge with social responsibility, which may be a junior position in the near term but will be every bit as important in the long term. It's difficult to see through the fog of change but we all know there's something big on the horizon as we're seeing with social media membership/activity and eComm retail. It's only going to get bigger as they are predicting for eComm, this social media will follow that lead. My 2cents... :-)

Supply Chain Trends/Predictions to Watch in 2014

There are some very good points mad by Mark Patterson +DHL in this article. #OmniChannel #eCommerce for me will be the closest watched but I like the other categories and the technology innovations that will come with each. The upcoming year will truly be the Year of the Horse(race) for #SCM...

Whitepaper Download: Talent & Logistics/Transportation

Here's another good whitepaper for download showing in more detail what talented employees will want as we move forward. I actually think the areas listed span all industry. It is even more important for the #Logistics  #eCommerce #SCM   #Transportation  industries.

When I am discussing our automation systems our prospects and customers, talent often comes up. Great talent will keep your fulfillment and distribution center running like a Swiss watch, always operating and always on time. However, it is always apparent when the company doesn't have the talent but I am choosing to not discuss those issues at this time... :-)

Recently listed on the SAP Business Innovation, Top Supply Chain (SCM) Influencers list; http://goo.gl/hbOnTG

Professionally, I have had a wide variety of experience in the logistics industry, concentrating mostly on warehouse and distribution centre functionality including ERP, WMS, Middleware and TMS software. I consider myself an expert in Ergonomics Automation, Document Automation, RF, Bar Code, RFID, Voice (Pick & VoIP), and paper based data collection. Prior to entering into the SCM industry, I was heavily involved in the packaging machinery (design, service and sales) and material handling industries. This combination of these two industries has helped me with my new professional focus, the document automation, order start and packing station nodes within warehousing and distribution centres.
Specialties:
Warehouse & fulfillment - distribution centre, conveying, sorting, kitting (packaging), document automation, order start automation, packing station automation, ergonomics. Packing slip/list, MSDS, statement, prescription/scripts and invoice automation. Dynamic, laser and thermal direct/transfer, print-on-demand, document automation, friction feeders for dispensing catalogues, brochures, pharmaceutical package inserts, manuals, DVD/CD's, etc.

Personally:
I have a strong belief in family and friendship. I guess you can call me one of those technical and information junkies and I just adore my sales career here at PSI Engineering. I have a very strong belief in ethics and responsibility of self. You may think it romantic but I believe that we are the government and that our elected representatives work for us. I have played for and coached both hockey and baseball teams. I have not found a sport that I didn't like but hockey (probably because I am Canadian) is my favourite. Other interest include; travel, photography, gardening, sun rises, sun sets, community and friendship.
