Canada places 16th (tied with Australia 0.89) on the Global Innovation Index, something our new Liberal (Trudeau) government must look at if we're going to improve industry and exports business.

Remember Those Who Have Fallen To Give Us Our Freedom. 100 Years, Lt.-Col. John McCrae's: In Flanders Fields

"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."
In Flanders Fields was hardly the only poem penned out of the emotion of the First World War. But its vivid imagery and the haunting evocation of men whose lives were lost have given it a lasting place in the collective Canadian imagination.

Well, the Markland Wood 48th Annual Christmas Caravan was held yesterday and we had an overwhelming response from our community. Not only was the #refugeeswelcome truck loaded full when we finished, so were the Goodwill and Furniture Bank trucks. You can see more photos on twitter. I drove the U-Halll truck for the Syrian Refugee (25,000 who will be calling Canada home soon) donations and Michael, my neighbour and organizer for the Culture Link donations (for refugees) had the hard job, stuffing the truck as we meandered the streets on the Christmas Caravan route, December 13th. It was an amazing day and I praise all who participated and who donated this year, surpassing all expectations. Yes, that's Michael and me in the photo, me wearing my elf's hat and seasonal red jumper.

We're holding our traditional All Candidates presentations and Q&A tonight at our local church. If you're within the #EtobicokeCentre  boundaries, you're welcome to attend. The format is simple, each candidate has the floor (through a lottery) for a 5 minute presentation. After the presentations they are available to answer questions from the audience. Each person asking has 30 seconds to ASK their question or they are cut off (not may came to listen to anyone except the candidates so no grand standing from the audience) and each candidate must answer within 2 minutes. Each candidate may answer any question as all (5 candidates are running in this riding) answers are equally valued. Questions directed specifically to one candidate will be answered by them first and then the other candidates may also answer in turn. This is not a debate. This is an information event where the electorate may become better informed with whom they hopefully will choose to cast their vote.

Venue: St. Clement church.
Address: 409 Markland Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9C 1S5 (1 Km west of Hwy 427 on the corner of Bloor St. W. & Markland Drive)
Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Candidates may wish to set up tables outside the auditorium. Cheer leaders, please stay to the rear of the room and leave room for the audience. Rowdiness and loud obnoxious behaviour (we, the organizers determine that bad behaviour eg: whistling, shouting, grandstanding, booing, etc.) will not be tolerated and those in non-compliance will be escorted out of the room. So please be nice and behave and will will all have a very informative time.

Happy Father's Day to all Dads!

"I thought hed live forever
He seemed so big and strong
But the minutes fly
And the years roll by
For a father and a son
And suddenly when it happened
There was so much left unsaid
No second chance
To tell him thanks
For everything he'd done"

Give your Dad a Hug!

It's that time of year again, #FathersDay and so here is the tribute to my father I wrote about last year.

I'll be spending lots of time with my family this weekend and my daughter will be visiting (she moved out into her own place a few months ago) us. Of course, the BBQ will be burning for most of the weekend too... :-)

For all the Fathers out there, I hope you have a great day!

Recently listed on the SAP Business Innovation, Top Supply Chain (SCM) Influencers list; http://goo.gl/hbOnTG

Professionally, I have had a wide variety of experience in the logistics industry, concentrating mostly on warehouse and distribution centre functionality including ERP, WMS, Middleware and TMS software. I consider myself an expert in Ergonomics Automation, Document Automation, RF, Bar Code, RFID, Voice (Pick & VoIP), and paper based data collection. Prior to entering into the SCM industry, I was heavily involved in the packaging machinery (design, service and sales) and material handling industries. This combination of these two industries has helped me with my new professional focus, the document automation, order start and packing station nodes within warehousing and distribution centres.
Specialties:
Warehouse & fulfillment - distribution centre, conveying, sorting, kitting (packaging), document automation, order start automation, packing station automation, ergonomics. Packing slip/list, MSDS, statement, prescription/scripts and invoice automation. Dynamic, laser and thermal direct/transfer, print-on-demand, document automation, friction feeders for dispensing catalogues, brochures, pharmaceutical package inserts, manuals, DVD/CD's, etc.

Personally:
I have a strong belief in family and friendship. I guess you can call me one of those technical and information junkies and I just adore my sales career here at PSI Engineering. I have a very strong belief in ethics and responsibility of self. You may think it romantic but I believe that we are the government and that our elected representatives work for us. I have played for and coached both hockey and baseball teams. I have not found a sport that I didn't like but hockey (probably because I am Canadian) is my favourite. Other interest include; travel, photography, gardening, sun rises, sun sets, community and friendship.
