Just one of the many faces I saw in Italy these last few days. You can see the rest on my blog at http://ministract.com/blog/2014/8/18/faces-of-italy, including Hannibal Lecter, a face by Modigliani, Marge Simpson, a one-eyed Steif teddy bear and one of the Easter Island stone sculptures. #ministract

Just started a new series on my ministract blog called Potpourri where I ask a photographer to share their 8 favourite photographs (from their own work) along with the reasons why. For anybody in the UK, the idea is similar to Desert Island Discs. First up with her gorgeous ICM and multiple exposure work is Valda Bailey. Please take a look and I hope you like what you see.
One of the great things about social media is the opportunity it gives us to get to know new people - people who inspire us through their work and, if we're lucky enough to meet them, enrich us through their friendship.  Good things are for sharing and so I'd like to start an occasional series where I introduce you to some people who I think are special for one reason or another. Some you'll know and some you won't. Either way, I hope ...

Introduction

Ministract \ˈmi-nə-ˈstrakt\ - n. Photography. Of or pertaining to that which might be minimal, might be abstract or might even be both.

Read a bit more here or, better still, just let yourself be guided by these wise words:
  • Ignite the imagination and light the slow fuse of the possible  ~Emily Dickinson
  • I'm looking for the unexpected. I'm looking for things I've never seen before  ~Robert Mapplethorpe
I came up with the term Ministract back in 2008 and am pleased at the way it's been adopted by people. I'm (the very lazy) curator of Ministract Monday here on Google+ so please join in and tag your shots as #ministractmonday. Come to think of it, why not tag them #ministractanydayyouwant ;-)
