Feature Suggestions  -

A few suggestions for Layers manager:

1) add a setting for a default overlay folder
2) add a reboot button (although I think this is already in the works?)
3) add a setting to enable/disable preview images

Thanks for all the hard work you guys are putting in, I would be a reluctant CM user of it wasn't for you!

RRO Overlay System How-To

Download and install a compatible ROM, for N5: Frank N5 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/l-android-lpv-dev-n5-enhanced-t2856934 ) and Simple AOSP ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-simpleaosp-t2933419 ), Terminus ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/android-5-0-0r7-lrx21v-t2950499 ) is coming soon

Download and install the Overlay Manager Beta from the community link (https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.bitsyko.overlaymanager)

At this point, before doing anything else, run Overlay Manager. This is critical, as it creates two folders at first run, and if you don't the rest of the instructions don't make sense.

Now you can either try some of the included sample overlays, or download some community or experimental overlays. If the overlay you download is in a zip, extract the apk and copy it to /sdcard/SykoPath-Overlays/Other Overlays then in Overlay Manager press the refresh button in the top right, then scroll down to the 'Other Overlays' section, and press 'Open Category Folder'. If it is provided as an apk, then just copy it to the 'Other Overlays' folder.

You should now have a list of files in the folder, with some details. Any activated overlays will have a blue background to make it immediately obvious that it is active. Right now you will not have any active, so there should be no blue ones. If you long press on an overlay you will get a popup FAB menu. To activate the overlay press the button that looks like two pages overlaid, or press the 3 button menu and select 'Copy Ovl(s) To /vendor/overlay'. You will get a prompt to reboot now or later. If all you want is one overlay, then you can reboot now. If you want to install multiple overlays at once, long press the first, then long press the second, etc. The check mark FAB will indicate multiple overlays selected, then you can apply them all at once.

Reboot, and you should now have the selected overlay active, and whatever it was that was themed by the overlay should now be themed.

To deactivate the overlay, similarly to activating, long press and then select the trash FAB, and then reboot.

Issue with new beta: I just got the 2.4b3 beta, and it seems like the first notification doesn't full in the body of the message, for Gmail anyway. If I press the select button to dismiss it briefly folks in the body, then goes back to the watchface. Is there a new watchface to go with the new app, or is this a bug?

AllCast Beta 4

Heads up. Google's latest Chromecast update intentionally breaks AllCast. They disabled 'video_playback' support from the ChromeCast application.

Given that this is the second time they've purposefully removed/disabled[1] the ability to play media from external sources, it confirms some of my suspicions that I have had about the Chromecast developer program:
The policy seems to be a heavy handed approach, where only approved content will be played through the device. The Chromecast will probably not be indie developer friendly. The Google TV team is only prepared with media companies.

I'd strongly suggest holding off on buying a Chromecast until we can see how Google chooses to move forward on third party applications. There are also other (open) platforms and stacks that one could buy/support as well. (LeapCast, NodeCast, etc)

Here's the apk, but please note it probably won't work.

[1] There used to be a sample app that provided similar functionality.

Too cool!

An interactive shell within your text editor. About halfway through the demo you'll be like "yeah i get it..." and then the next 60 seconds will blow your mind.

Ask A Question?  -

I've tried looking through all of the announcements and questions, but I can't find the answer to my question, which is 'what ROM's are supported with the overlay manager?' I am currently on Terminus ROM for N5, just wondering if there is a list of supported ROM's, and if so, what makes it 'supported'? Are there code changes that need to be made to support it?

Is there a reason why it shows as not compatible with my Nexus 5 running Android L preview?

It's also not showing as compatible with my N7 2013, which is also running Android L, but my old N7 with CM10 is compatible.
