I'm writing a book called Photography for Designers

You can find out more about the book here:

Mainly, I want to gauge how many people here would find that interesting, especially as I'm approaching it from the point of view of a landscape photographer, as that's what I specialise in. It would be great to start a discussion about it.

In a way, as photographers, we're all designers too.

I hadn’t really considered this before I started taking photos but essentially, photography is a form of designing. When I took that photo seen in the cover, I didn’t just want it to look great, I wanted it to really show off the beauty of Iceland. I want people to look at it and say to themselves, “That looks amazing, I would love to visit Iceland”. Basically I want it to convey a message, much like we do on a day to day basis as designers.

Capturing that scene definitely required some luck but I also had to compose it, similar to how I would have to with a website. Instead of creating the elements I was simply using the world around me to “design”.

I would love to know what you think.
