Interesting article by +Rick Falkvinge, founder of the European Pirate Party. At one time I was pro-copyright, and I'm still pro-copyright with some limits.  Unfortunately the copyright maximalists have taken copyrights way farther than they should be taken.  That's what got me started with Safe-Xchange- musicians and filmmakers have to have a way to appeal to the quarter of a billion people that share files every month.

What makes this really bad is that the copyright maximalists are pushing an agenda that will completely limit our liberties, and that's why Rick and the Pirate Party really deserve our attention.

Do you want to record your Easter services? Would it help to be able to edit the recordings you have? How about distributing them as podcasts?

The Worship Software Suite is the perfect tool for recording your services, editing the audio, and distributing it as a podcast. It includes RipEditBurn Plus, Power Record, the Noise Reduction Effect, Sound Effects Set 1, and ePodcast Express. And we're selling it for under $100- that's a bargain!

Has anybody here (who is NOT from Google Adwords or selling consulting services related to Adwords) had good experiences with Adwords?  Can you tell me about them?

I set up an Adwords campaign for Industrial Audio Software related to our podcasting products.  It is bringing zero results and it is consistently going over the budget I had set.  I've spent quite a bit of time refining the keywords and locations and days the campaign runs, but with absolutely no success.

If you have had a success, let me know.  If you can give me some clues, that would be great.  If you are trying to sell something, please don't- I need to understand Adwords myself, I don't need sales pitches at this point.

600 years ago the church put people to death for using the printing press.  That didn't stop the printing press.  The RIAA keeps hammering on +Google+, but that's not going to stop people from sharing files.

And- those people who are sharing files? They are the same people who buy more music, CDs, DVDs, go to more concerts, movies, etc. Maybe we should look at them as being the most valuable customers instead of calling them "pirates".

Mr. Buckley leaves out a couple of key pieces. The copyright holders are not artists, filmmakers, or other creators, they are the film and music studios that do their absolute best to pay as little to the people who are really doing the creating as they can. At the same time, the quarter of a billion people who share files every month are, by every study that has been done, the best customers.

The church, 600 years ago, put people to death for using the printing press. That did not stop the printing press. The film and music studios hate what is happening and have taken the place of the church 600 years ago. There are better ways than eliminating safe harbor to get money to the creators.

By the way, I've spoken with Mr. Buckley a number of times on the phone.  He told me that he is being paid by the record industry.  Yup, he's a lobbyist.

I finally got a chance to look at the article I wrote for Technologies For Worship Magazine- click on the link, and go to page 36.  Title is "Audio Mixing for Traditional and Streaming Broadcast".  I spend a lot of time making sure the audio is right for the Kashmir Shaivist practice I'm in, it's nice to share what I know with other religions and spiritual practices.

Move is done, now I can get back to other things!  I am looking for a copyright attorney.  One of my past clients is making money for work I did that they did not pay me for.  I registered a copyright before they started charging for my work.  I would appreciate referrals to people who can help with this.

+Tom Jeffries Best of luck, to you. It was your mind that did the work, you should be paid.
My sound files are free on soundcloud. Distribute them at will  as far as piano music on safe-xchange if you like. I expect no monetary gain from that.
I have a regular publisher as of last Wednesday, that I handle myself, and my niece is a paralegal studying to be a lawyer. She did my living will, and handled some other things as far as trust fund for my life insurance so my children will not have to pay large inheritance taxes and wait for probate.
I am far from being in it for the money, except printed music should be bought and if a performer usues it for iTunes ,etc, all I want is a very reasonable Nat King Cole era 1%( my role model for pricing after reading about all the money I was robbed of as a copyist, lol).
  Best of fortune to you!

Please help Safe-Xchange get to Internet Week NY!

This will be a great opportunity to present ourselves to the world. Please click on the link- you will have to do a login to vote, but it's quick and easy.  Here's what we'll talk about:

Pirates and Musicians

"A quarter of a billion people use the file sharing networks every month. That same quarter of a billion people has been shown by studies to spend 25-35% more on movies and music. That's a pretty damn good market, and it is one that has not been addressed directly. Safe-Xchange has developed a way to appeal directly to that market with legal files that allow them to connect with their favorite artists and films. Come and hear about our approach and let us know what you think!"

Please help us get there!

Why do we call file sharing "piracy"?

This was brought to mind by the situation with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.  It now appears that the flight might have been hijacked. That means 239 people may have died from one single act of piracy.

A quarter of a billion people share files every month, and I'm sure that turns into well over a billion acts of what the record industry calls "worse than piracy". I haven't heard heard of any deaths coming from that.  In fact, the people who are sharing files are the movie industry's most valuable customers:

http://torrentfreak.com/pirates-movie-industrys-valuable-customers-140304/

This always reminds me of the church putting people to death for using the printing press. It didn't stop the printing press, and it won't stop file sharing. The correct approach is to use file sharing to connect with the people that are sharing files.

Got it?

Well of course we got it. We hear a great deal about it.
My only concern is copyrights, and that is only because I have had two problems with plagerism. I am of the mindset if you can't beat them ,then join them and become better at their game.

I have been nearsighted for many years and have seen many optometrists. Recently I saw Dr. Michael G. Kiyomoto, and, in my opinion, he is absolutely excellent. Very detailed, very careful, lots of explanation, was not trying to sell me glasses. I strongly recommend Dr. Kiyomoto.
