Mutual of Omaha: It was a sight I'd never seen before. A nearby tree had a large sap ... leak? ... and it was like a watering hole on the Serengeti. Moths, wasps and bees were all coming to drink!

With that bit of random, my contribution to today's #squaresunday  curated by myself and +Ken McMahon.  I wish you all the best, in the week ahead!

It seems every house, here, has a pair, and they own all that they survey: Mocking Bird, for today's #squaresunday  curated by +Ken McMahon and myself, and despite this being a front-yard photograph, my contribution to #BirdPoker  Backyard Birds curated by +Phil Armishaw.

Best wishes for the week ahead!

+yggrdrasill, it's a war memorial in Galveston, Texas, for island residents who have died in war.

Selective tone adjustment: words of the day, for today's #squaresunday  curated by myself and +Ken McMahon.

Sorry it's not much of an exciting photograph, but more an exercise in specific techniques.  Perhaps, one day, I'll know which ones to use, when. Fortunately ... there's no hurry.

I wish you all a good #squaresunday  and a pleasant week ahead!

I have a color version of this, but the light was, at that moment, quite spectacular, all by itself.

Going out to get the newspaper (yes, I'm that old) this morning, I looked up and thought, "Huh. Can't be." Going back in the house, I thought I'd grab my camera and tripod and see what it was.  Spinning the exposure down until it was only a couple of eV underexposed I pressed the shutter and waited: 10 seconds later, imagine my surprise when I saw this was what was in our tree!

Ah ... well - that was a happy accident with the lighting then!  They do have a propensity for patience, don't they?  Hard to know for sure without seeing the underbelly - but it's likely a great horned or burrowing owl fledgling.   Yeah - serious weapons those talons.  Great Horned Owls crushing grip is from 200 - 500 psi.  *yipes*

Fire and Ice: The bluebonnets don't seem as plentiful this year, although, it may still be early.  Still, it was nice to spend some time chasing them down.  My contribution to today's #squaresunday  curated by myself and +Ken McMahon.

Best wishes for everyone's week!

You're right - there aren't many (yet) - but they are certainly vivid this year.

Discussion & News  -

I was going to go looking for wildflowers, next weekend, and broke out my Tamron 10-24 to make sure all was in working order.  The shots I took outside all seemed out of focus, so I brought it inside, to take a look under more controlled circumstances.

Sure enough, it seems that it's been banged one time too many, and everything outside the center of the image looks to be badly out of focus.

Any thoughts on whether this is something possible or worth repairing?  If not, any thoughts on a more durable replacement lens in this range?
