Sunrise from the Front Door

March 17, 2018.

I didn't have to travel far for this one, just down the stairs and through the hallway to the front door. I don't take many sunrise or sunset photographs, but the colors and the fog captured my attention when I opened the door to go outside.

Swing Span at Lock and Dam No. 19

October 17, 2008. Keokuk, Iowa.

The railroad swing bridge at Keokuk. The bridge is used by the Keokuk Junction Railway to cross the Mississippi River between the states of Illinois and Iowa. With the swing span in the open position, river traffic can pass through the locks, which are part of Lock and Dam No. 19. The upper deck of the bridge was originally used for automobile traffic, but now a portion of it is used for a pedestrian walkway.
