In this view from Baring Avenue, a switch point is missing from one of the switches in the CSX's Peiguss Yard, which is along the Barr Subdivision. This yard and line used to be part of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

Arriving at the Highlands

August 14, 2008. Hinsdale, Illinois.

A Metra commuter train rolls west into the Highlands station on the BNSF's Chicago Subdivision during the evening commuter rush. The Chicago Subdivision, also known as the "Race Track," is a triple track line running from Chicago, Illinois to Aurora, Illinois. The line hosts Amtrak and Metra passenger trains, as well as BNSF freight trains, and sees probably around 150+ trains a day.

It's Transport Tuesday again, everyone. Be sure to join in on the theme and post a transportation related creation today. Make sure to tag both +Shelly Gunderson and myself, as well as the theme #TransportTuesday, so that we can find your posts.

Here's my addition for the week.

Underside

This is an image of an F-15 Eagle jet that I captured back in 2005, at Fair St. Louis' air show. I was on the Eads Bridge when this jet flew almost right above me.

Remnants

June 22, 2005. St. Louis, Missouri.

Some of the remnants of the old Chouteau Avenue overpass, at Central Industrial Avenue. The bridge was being torn down to make way for a new one. For some reason when I look at this particular photo of the bridge demolition, it makes me think of how the world might look after Judgement Day (from the Terminator movie series).

Hi-Railer on the High Line

July 4, 2005. St. Louis, MO.

A Terminal Railroad Association (TRRA) hi-railer rolls south on the high line portion of the TRRA's Merchants Subdivision. The hi-railer is above Washington Avenue, between the Eads Bridge and the north tunnel under the Gateway Arch grounds. This view is looking west from toward the middle of the Eads Bridge, which crosses over the Mississippi River between St. Louis, MO and East St. Louis, IL.
