The Cartographer sounds so smug, laughing at people complaining about wait times, why don't they just make an appointment? I made an appointment, waited 40 minutes outside in the hot sun just to get to the front of the appointment line. Once I had my number I waited 30 minutes for them to call my number. Bottom line, the DMV is understaffed, underfunded, and inefficient. Oh, this is all because when I renewed my registration online, more than a week before it was due, there was a glitch in the computer system. Six weeks later I received a "Notice of Delinquent Registration" and they tacked on a $150 penalty fee. "Go to AAA and get it fixed", everybody said. Wrong, they can't override penalty fees, only a visit to the DMV could fix this.
