Classic hollow pole corrosion failure - entirely preventable by:

(a) better design

(b) a maintenance inspection regime that includes internal viewing.

They should have come to ENS Works for (a)  for new sites and certainly (b) for existing sites!!!
On a different day, with more cyclists and walkers on the footpath, ;the result ;could have been disastrous. ;

Snow-capped mountains, palm trees, turquoise seas... Scotland really does have it all. If it wasn't for the midges, it would be pretty much perfect.

A lot of people think climbing towers is the worst part of our industry - personally I think the cute wildlife of this wonderful land adds spice to the workplace....

Glad this is not one of our projects!!!

To end your week here is a tale of a very brave 75 year old....

A dietitian was once addressing a large audience. “The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.
Red meat is awful. Soft drinks erode your stomach lining. Chinese food is full of MSG. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realises the long term issues with our drinking water.
But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all, we all have, or will eat. Can anyone here stand up here and tell me which food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?

A 75 year old man in the back row stood up and calmly said

” Wedding cake”.

Clever marketing - no longer "selling the sizzle not the sausage" but now subtly selling you the scent of it cooking....
New research suggests that we’re about to enter an era in which many more consumer products companies will take advantage of sense-based marketing.

Siemens signs chartering agreement for two additional wind service operations vessels. The vessels are to be purpose-built for the long-term service and maintenance operations of the Gemini and Sandbank/Dan Tysk offshore wind power plants in the North Sea.http://bit.ly/1L7GDfQ

Introduction

"Building Things Better" is my personal vision – to me it’s not about being cheapest it’s about offering exceptional value. From project conception through whole of life, correctly engineered, correctly delivered, high quality solutions that are developed from years of valued experiences – that’s what I am about.

Benjamin Franklin famously quoted  “the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”  - I like and stand by that quote – if you want a cheap and nasty solution we are not for you however if you do want high quality and the very best value achievable then speak to us. Many studies have proven that this higher quality approach actually works out more economical in the long term with lower lifecycle costs.

I have been involved in the construction of wireless network roll-outs large and small and this experience has given me a tremendous insight to the deploying networks and in particular those problems that rural area constructions present – from power solutions through to the actual logistics of getting materials and construction plant on site. I have been involved in developing many innovative solutions in these areas.

Outdoor signage, power line installations and single site wind turbines are all areas that have similar conditions where my particular construction knowledge also delivers great project value for customers.

In addition I have an extensive civil engineering construction background which includes large scale highway bridges and structures projects, such as motorway projects, rail projects (multiple bridge raising / replacement projects and temporary overbridge solutions for electrification ), temporary works and temporary bridging solutions, high quality concrete structures (dry- docks etc)

Knowledgeable and experienced in the area of military engineering (Royal Engineers) - both combat engineering and specialist technical areas as well.

Used to working at very senior levels with a proven record for business and P and L management.
