Wearing my criminal defense lawyer cap this morning. Historically, beautiful small criminal defense courtrooms like this are the battleground for Americans' Constitutional rights.

We use a similar certification system for Mississippi's intoxilyzer machines. It is a different issue but I recently handled a DUI case with an officer who was not certified to give the test.

Congratulations to Stopher Haug for being nominated and elected to serve the Ocean Springs Yacht Club as the Commodore for 2017! Stopher has served as a board member or officer of the Yacht Club since 2012.

The Club will be hosting a Change of Watch ceremony at 100 Front Beach in Ocean Springs on January 6 beginning at 5:00 PM as outgoing Commodore Ron Haaf formally transfers the mantle of Commodore to Stopher. Members and guests are welcome to attend.

The MS Supreme Court on December 15th announced the adoption of a new set of MS Rules of Criminal Procedure, which will apply to all Justice, Municipal, County and Circuit Courts. The new rules go into effect July 1, 2017. Here's a link to the rules: https://courts.ms.gov/rules/msrulesofcourt/2017-Final%20Version%20of%20Rules%20-%20Clean%20Copy%20121316.pdf

As personal injury attorneys, we fight public perception every day. Take the time to watch this video. I've been asked about the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit quite a few times and I always try to take the time to explain what really happened. It's our job to fight for an injured client's livelihood and obtain justice. The amount a client should obtain in court should be the decision of a jury. In the McDonald's hot coffee case, the jury took their responsibility seriously and granted a fair award based on all the evidence presented. This is how our court system should work.https://www.facebook.com/CollegeHumor/videos/10154282893897807/
