We often talk about the importance of injury prevention in athletes who participate in mainstream sports. However, the same injury prevention is equally important in the performance arts setting - specifically with dancers. Dancers often suffer from repetitive stress/overuse injuries in the feet, ankles and lower leg.

Check out this article about a Radio City Rockette and how she single-handedly grew an athletic training program to educate and rehab dancers performing in the show.

IT's COLD today across Tennessee. Did you wake up in pain? Have you noticed that you can 'predict' the weather based on your joint pain? People with arthritis often claim they can predict the weather, based on their joint pain level, and with good reason. Check out this Arthritis Weather Index from the Arthritis Foundation

A study from Tufts University in 2007 found that every 10-degree drop in temperature corresponded with an incremental increase in arthritis pain. In addition, relatively low barometric pressure, low temperatures and precipitation can increase pain. Researchers aren’t sure why this happens. They suspect certain atmospheric conditions increase swelling in the joint capsule. #arthritis   #arthritispain

Dr. Siegel is pictured here beside President–Elect, John W. Hale, Jr., M.D. as he hands over the gavel. As Speaker of the House, Dr. Siegel's responsibilities include working with Tennessee orthopaedic outlets as a liaison regarding insurance reform.

Congratulations, Dr. Siegel, on this wonderful honor! #tennesseemedicalassociation   #physician   #orthopedicsurgeon
