"There are a lot of institutions in the US — including a bunch that perennially appear on lists of best colleges — that have had to negotiate their own religious beginnings: Duke, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, to name just a few. In the end, Buddhist-inspired Soka University may not be so different."
In less than 15 years, Soka University of America has become one of the top 50 liberal arts schools in the country, according to the holy grail of college rankings: the US News and World Report’s annual list of best colleges. #globalnation

great first step, recognizing the talents of my colleagues who happen to also be on the autism spectrum. proud of SAP for leading this initiative.
In May of 2013 SAP established a global objective to have 1% its workforce represented by employees in the autism spectrum by the year 2020.  A global program was set in place at that time and roughly...

Proud mom moment: My son Enzo Marc finished his short film about how a random act of kindness could change someone's life. It reminds us of the importance of human connection. With deepest gratitude for all the family, friends, neighbors who gave emotionally, financially, and most importantly--- their confidence in Enzo. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day at 800-273-8255)

Sometimes a different perspective can help you see a problem with fresh eyes. The problem to be solved in Gainesville, Fla.? A hot spot of poverty, child abuse and neglect.

nice blog by David Bray, CIO of the FCC on the impact of human nature on decisions, including the ones involving technology
After three weeks in Sydney and Melbourne on an Eisenhower Fellowship, meeting with their industry and government leaders regarding future opportunities and challenges with the Internet of Everything (IoE), I now briefly am in New Zealand before returning to the United States. New Zealand’s rural countryside and lake views provide a strong contrast to the tall, human-made cityscapes of Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Our lives undoubtedly will be...

"They need a society and educational system designed to actually meet their needs, instead of a society that passes laws to keep them constantly underfoot and an educational system designed to test them to death and tell them how they are inadequate instead of educating them."
'Almost every day, I slip food to one of my students. Both of his parents are in prison. Or, one of his parents is in prison and the other is dead. We can’t quite get the full story from him....Where there is money, there is education. Where there isn’t money, there is excessive testing, lack of curricular options, and struggle.'

the first thing to understand, is that this ice cream is made ONLY when YOU order it. there is no "stock" (as one reviewer complained). flavors change, this isn't baskin robbins. so if you like being inside your little taste bud box, this is not the place for you. also, if the most important factor in ice cream is volume, then this place is not for you. however, if you're a connoisseur & have discerning taste, and are willing to pay for the highest quality ingredients, you should go to smitten. anything with TCHO chocolate is a winner. salted caramel is amazing. and the seasonal flavors are delicious as well.

beautiful, tasteful, all the right amenities, cozy, warm hospitality, unbelievable night sky under the milky way, close to Bryce. We had a room in the main house. Loved breakfast with other guests. Have been looking for ways to get back here. Highly recommend.

This is a boutique gym with all the best & most effective equipment to work out 1:1 with your personal trainer in a convenient location in Menlo Park with parking. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything the bigger gyms offer when I come to SBM Fitness: personalized, targeted & results-oriented training, augmented with the latest equipment likeTRX, reformer, kettle bells, the latest machines, in a clean well lit, discrete environment away from the people watching vibe other gyms down the street are known for.

Beautiful park with canyons, rapids, cliffs galore. Just 2.5 hr train ride from Taipei. Then another 45 min drive into the park from our hotel. The trails are not overly difficult, but the facilities in the park not for the mobility impaired. Bring water, flashlight, hard hat, rain poncho & your own toilet paper!

I used to love this store & the staff. I shop here at least twice a week and spend a small fortune. Full disclosure: I'm also a shareholder. But in the last 6 months or so I've noticed customer service in the evening (forget trying to shop during day or evening, way too crowded) taking a nose dive. The norm seems to be for staff to start cleaning up around 9/915pm, which means 0 to 1 person to serve a lot of people lining up at the counter (meat and seafood). And there are never enough cashiers and baggers. Call me old fashioned but when I'm averaging $125/bag of groceries, I expect someone to bag it for me???
